Congrats on launching this tool!
The way we organize and annotate documents, objects, and collections on and off the web is long overdue for a significant redesign. Dropbox and Google Drive are simply replicas of the MacOS Finder or Windows Explorer, which can result in a cluttered mess. Tools like Notion or ClickUp are excellent for organizing thoughts, but they don't prioritize the capturing, clipping, and sharing process, which is essential for my curation process and likely yours as well. The Beam Browser demonstrated an elegant solution for clipping or inspecting blocks of content from the web, so I'm pleased to see that Fabric’s browser extension incorporates this pattern.
Fabric’s organisation features like the semantic search and deep linking back to a source fragment are impressive. Similar tools like Hypthes.is, Pocket, Memex Garden, and Additor have been available for some time, so it will be interesting to see how the AI capabilities and sleek UX of Fabric will set it apart.
One tiny piece of feedback:
- In the onboarding flow: set the link to install the browser extension to open a new tab
