The BBC has a simply humongous back catalogue of great shows, only a tiny portion of which is available to watch on Netflix, Amazon or iPlayer at any one time. This is their first step to giving users access to the archive with a new store where you can buy and download their most popular shows. As this article (http://www.alphr.com/life-cultur...) says I'm surprised they didn't go down the Netflix subscription route though. Maybe that's to come next...
