we're quite nervous, very happy, and insanely proud to launch tl;dv for Zoom on PH today! 🤯 After launching tl;dv for Google Meet in 2021, it´s honestly quite a milestone for our team, our users, and aaaall Zoom lovers out there 🚀
Launching on Product Hunt almost 12 months ago has been pivotal for us. We´ve helped tens of thousands of users optimize millions of hours in meetings. And, wow, we´ve learned SO much!
About our product, about our users, about what we believe the async future of work should look like:
Like many of you here in the PH community, we're in ❤️ with async-first collaboration and love video to unleash emotional & visual collaboration across timezones. But, the reality is, in remote, async-only doesn´t cut it. What we need to double down on instead is an async-first approach for meetings.
From insightful user interviews to inspirational project kick-offs, from lively brainstormings to hiring interviews... if facilitated correctly, live meetings fill our async-first remote environments with emotions, color, and life! For those interested, Steven Sinofski (a16z) has written a great article about the value of live meetings, called "Reaching Peak Meeting efficiency". Give it a go! 🤩
However, we always found that it always takes waaay too much more time to repeat and contextualize every important live meeting insight and takeaway, especially without the context, the emotions, or the visuals... text-based notes simply don´t cut it ⏳ The result is that in most cases, we still (have to) join too many live meetings out of FOMO 👩👩👦👩👩👦👩👩👦 , or at best, skim a 1-hour 30´ recording guessing where the important information is. So we built tl;dv to help you catch up on meetings in minutes.🎯🎯

@galaxyx7 Dear Romano, thanks a lot :) We had a lot of fun creating it. We´re currently focused on enabling people to share meeting insights faster, and more efficiently. In our experience, people are not yet believing in AI to make this happen reliably, and at scale. But we´re definitely open to move in that direction more and more, if it helps our users achieve their goals :)

Honest question, our org is a super heavy user of Gong. Is there anything tl;dv does which would make us want to use it in tandem? I am so familiar with the painpoints here but feel like gong killed them. Is this a lower cost platform which does a lot of what gong, chorus, etc. does with lower hassle?
@thatmattgardner Hi Matt, fair question! Indeed we´re much lower-priced but that´s as you say rightly not the main differentiation at all. Quite the opposite:
We´re a horizontally focused product. Indeed, similar to Gong the first person to adopt tl;dv is someone whose large part of the job it is to be in a lot of meetings (researchers, customer success, sales - like Gong...). But, the most successful teams adopt tl;dv across the Org:
Customer insights travel to the engineers, recruiting interviews travel to the hiring managers to help increase candidate fit, new joiners receive onboarding videos from their entire organizations to get a 360 view what´s going on in the business, researchers share their user reactions with the executives and product, ...
tl;dv is the missing layer between zoom and slack - for your entire company. You will see, with that, your engineers will also start to have a look at sales conversations more than in Gong, and feel more engaged with the customers in turn :)
I’ve been using tl;dv since before it had ANY integrations and the team is second to none. What an amazing milestone, great work all!

This is epic. It might even help rethink how we do meetings entirely. Anyone who was just "listening in" now no longer needs to attend and can digest the critical moments after the fact. No more scrubbing through an entire meeting recording. No more typing up long meeting notes. No more catching up teammates after the fact with recaps.
So cool - do you guys have best practices for a structure to take notes while in meetings? What is best to jot down real-time and what is best to fill in later? Is storing them in a Notion table with team and department tags a good way to archive?

@dangio25 thanks for your kind words! Yes exactly! Basically, we've seen both practices. People writing them down in real-time. Internally this is what we usually do. We have a dedicated person leading the meeting and taking notes. We also have seen the other behavior you describe, of people wanting to be super focused in the meeting and if the moment feels important they mark the moment using the pin 📌 button and after the meeting is over, they go and replace the pins with notes.
If you record many meetings you can use the star button to "star" the important ones and easily find them.
In some cases, we've also used what you describe. A notion table with links to tl;dvs with an extra column with tags.
@carlo_thissen has some nice ideas on how to run productive meetings and make them pop!

Congrats on your amazing solution! It resonates a lot with the platform we're also building (onetranscriber.com - sorry for making sort of promoting..).
A common "pain point" among the community of the online-meetings-workers, as we know, is also the overwhelming number of meetings we have to deal with daily which increased of course since the pandemic. Therefore the new questions (I also collected a lot from the colleagues all over the world) are:
- can I send an AI Digital Assistant to the meetings that can take live captions/note for me, and promptly notify me in case of hot or critical topics being discussed?
- can I have a solution that, along with meetings live captions, still by leveraging AI, can predict where the discussions will go and what statements will be made (e.g. based on attendees, arguments, from previous meetings, etc.)?
- based on live captioning and transcription of the meetings, can the solution provide me suggestions and hints on what is the best comment or answer I can give during the ongoing meeting?
- can the platform work with any software (other than zoom, or g-meet; but I know it's very hard to be fully compatible and takes a lot of effort).

Indeed, freeing customers' resources during meetings is one of our biggest challenges (Multitasking is overrated! :)). Although avoiding AI, we're trying to find ways to automatize more and more meeting-related processes (e.g anticipating what's going to be covered during the meeting).

@new_user_20173a3b8b 100% agree that multitasking is an illusion, and the key is to enable people to focus on the one thing only that matters at a specific time. And as you said, automation of meeting-side-tasks helps in this direction. However, I must admit that AI can definitely enable to make a big leap.
And one quick point on the autonomy: for sure AI (never) replaces human activities, it "elevates" the same. People often guess, making not-informed statements (because it costs effort to us); AI does the "dirty" work providing options of informed possible answer, that we can better elaborate on.
In terms of platforms, well, I use almost all of them, depending on the Clients I work with: Microsoft Teams, Skype and Webex. I would bet on MS Teams which is the most diffused in large companies and therefore allowing the Federated interactions (i.e. Company A employees interacts/chats/call with Company B employees).

We've been daily users of tldv more than a year - honestly cannot recommend enough their Google extension.
We use it for everything user research and interview related. Also, with transcripts and timestamps it makes it so much easier to have 1 single source for truth when it comes to meetings related notes and actions. Not just a great video 😁

Most of the time, people who´s job it is to be in a lot of meetings (researchers, customer success, sales) start to adopt tl;dv as they need to capture the information holistiaclly, and also share rich information with stakeholders for information exchange, training and documentation purposes. from there, the best teams usually adopt tl;dv across all functions - quite crazy:
