Automatically capture any process and turn it into an interactive walkthrough. Tango now gives you step-by-step guidance right on your screen, with context and insights right where you need them—so you can stay in the flow and get sh*t done. https://tango.us
👋, Product Hunt!
Tango is back and we’re here to help you Get Sh*t Done!
Before I explain how, let me provide the backdrop.
When we originally launched on Product Hunt (Product of the year runner up in 2021 thanks to all of you!), our goal was to make creating documentation, how-to guides, and SOPs less painful. The response from this community was incredible, and helped validate what we were building. Fast forward and there are over 350,000 people using Tango. Wow, it’s still hard to believe!
While people were using Tango to create beautiful how-to guides, faster than ever before, we were talking with customers. We learned what product improvements would have the biggest impact on their lives, and we quickly went back into build-mode.
Now, what’s up with the expletive above…? As exciting as our prior PH launches have been, this one takes the cake. It’s not even close.
I am thrilled to announce the launch of Guidance. Guidance is an entirely new way to learn on the job and get work done faster. Starting today, Tango’s frictionless how-to guides are transformed into on-screen interactive walkthroughs with built-in peer insights.
With Tango Guidance, users get:
🔎 Guidance without meetings.
Guidance shows viewers exactly where to take action on their screen. With built-in context and personalized insights, experts can get nuanced information across that previously would have required a live conversation.
✅ Cross-platform integration - no code required.
Guidance works for any website, SaaS product, and cross-application processes without code.
🙋♀️ Answers in the right place, at the right time.
Answers show up where and when they’re needed in the flow of work so viewers don’t waste time and energy searching for the right information or switching tabs.
✍️ Opportunity to provide feedback.
Comments and reactions allow viewers to respond and react to specific steps in a documented process. This alerts creators to improvement opportunities including when something is out of date, doesn’t make sense, or there's simply a better way.
Following these steps to start using Guidance today:
1️⃣ Visit https://tango.us to download our Chrome extension for free
2️⃣ Capture your first (or thousandth) Tango and put it in your Shared Workspace
3️⃣ Add teammates to your Shared Workspace
4️⃣ Send them the URL and tell them to click “Guide Me”
5️⃣ Get Sh*t Done!
Last but not least, be sure to join our launch event at 10a PT today: https://www.tango.us/guidance-la...
Event attendees are automatically entered into a giveaway which includes AirPods Pro, a Tango Swag Pack, and one year of Tango Pro. There will also be a world-famous celebrity joining us who none of you would ever want as a coworker. I’m not kidding.
We’re so excited to hear what you think about Guidance. Thanks for reading 🙏
Let’s Tango! 💃🏻
Hey @zachary_dewitt 👋 Everyone needs to get sh*t done 😁 Here are just a few examples of how departments can use Guidance:
Support teams will ramp agents faster, enable outsourcing, and ensure mistake-free work which will lead to happy customers and higher NPS.
Sales teams can get new reps running the perfect demo in days and ensure 100% perfect data entry which is critical for pipeline accuracy.
Marketing teams can make the most of their expensive tech stack and crush product launches to increase their contribution to revenue.
Success teams can create highly tailored onboarding flows for new customers which leads to sticky usage in days, not months.
Product teams can teach everyone to be an expert on new product launches faster, with less training time.
HR & Training teams will help new hires spend less time learning software and more time learning customers, product and their craft.
@zachary_dewitt@rocco_seyboth1 Quick question. I see the term agent being mentioned often recently (last few weeks). what does it mean? What kind of agent? sales, LLM? customer success or is it something else?
Wow, Tango is back with a bang! 🚀 Guidance sounds super handy for on-the-job learning and getting more done. Love the idea of answers popping up when I need them, and the chance to give feedback. Can't wait to try it out and see how it revs up my productivity. Great job, Tango team! 💃🏻
I posted this as a review, my mistake.
1. I asked why you're moving away from documentation on your LP. You replied you're not, but the second key point on your LP is "Say goodbye to boring documentation." BTW I believe I have landed in an AB test?
2. I don't see how using this tool is better than reading documentation. Documentation can be loaded in context in the app. This requires my end user to go to Chrome, download and pin the extension and return to the product.
@helloitsolly Replying to this one too, just in case - Tango's Guides are still very much a thing, but now you can follow them on-screen in an interactive walkthrough as well. We're just increasing the options here, hopefully giving people with different learning styles other ways to follow documentation types!
@helloitsolly You're talking about your external customers? Yeah. You probably would not have all of your customers install the chrome extension. Most Tango customers use Guidance internally or with large clients where they have a lot of custom processes to teach them. For documentation, every Tango you capture still generates a beautiful how-to guide with perfectly cropped screenshots.
This is really interesting. Two questions:
So does guidance REPLACE help guides? I looked at your landing page and all the language about creating help guides is gone.
Also, do my customers have to use the chrome extension to see the guide. If you could remove that it would be killer.
@helloitsolly Tango's Guides are still very much a thing, but now you can follow them on-screen in an interactive walkthrough as well. Customers will have to install the Chrome extension to follow Guidance, but we're thinking about other options for accessing Guidance!
I had never heard of Tango before but I'm actually blown away. super slick website and product. creating and viewing guides is very easy and the new guidance feature is super cool. Some questions that come to mind (haven't been through the docs yet, sorry if these are answered already):
1. I primarily want to use this to show users how to use my product. It seems Tango might be more geared toward internal knowledge. Is that correct? Do people use it for my use-case?
2. does it support custom domains for the hosted guides?
3. as a developer, could I integrate the technology directly in my app so I can trigger interactive guides programmatically for users without them having to be in the workspace or have the extension?
4. is there any guidance around making my product play nicely with Tango Guidance? I noticed sometimes Tango interrupted animations or highlighted the wrong thing when my product behaved slightly differently when creating the guide vs using guidance.
Nicely done. congrats on the launch:)
Hi @lucas_barnes 👋Great questions!
1. Many customer-facing teams use Tango to enable their customers. You can capture processes for your product super fast and then embed them into your website or whatever knowledge base or chatbot you use for support. The new Guidance product specifically relies on the Chrome extension. Some high-touch customer-facing teams are working with their users to install the extension - this is probably a good fit for a large annual contract value.
2. No custom domains yet but you can embed your Tangos several different ways into any website or knowledge base.
3. Not yet! Tango is designed to work seamlessly across workflows that involve many different applications - the way most people work in real life 😃 The browser extension works best for this.
4. Great question. I'll find out and email you. Our AI certainly is not perfect (yet) at finding the right element on the page which is why we have our panel with screenshots as a backup!
OMG! You guys nailed it with Tango “how-to guides” and this! I create so many Tango’s, my team and customers love using it. I skipped calls just with the guides, now with Guidance I will be more at peace 😇
Oh wow! I wish this existed a long time ago...
Now I (almost) regret working on my own.
Guess I'll have to use this with my parents.
Amazing videos (both here and on your landing page).
Wow, this is great! We're huge on playbooks, and this is way better than our average playbook. I think something like this could be really useful for our user-facing customer support as well!
Congratulations on the launch Tango Team! Guidance looks super useful for any team that has unique processes in place that need to be adopted but both new comers and the existing team. Definitely see a lot of value in this driving up internal adoption of tools and frameworks.
@ken_babcock and team, this is incredible! You know when something is good when you see it, marvel in it's simplicity and wonder how something like it hasn't existed until now. This is nothing short of a game-changer in procedural upskilling. I love how you've brought the same product magic to guidance consumers as you did to creators.
Huge congrats on the launch 👏
Congrats on the launch @ken_babcock@brian_shultz, loved the introduction video. This new feature is just amazing, making it super seamless to collaborate! :)
