With the power of GPT4, Recall summarizes, organizes and connects all the interesting information you come across every day. Whether it's a podcast, blogpost, news article or recipe - Recall makes it easy to store and access it later.
Hi there! My name is Paul and I'm excited to share with you about my passion project called Recall. I am working on Recall full-time and putting all my efforts into creating something that will change the way we consume information.
Recall is a personal encyclopedia that allows you to capture and organize all of the interesting information you come across every day. Whether it's an interesting article or a fascinating podcast episode, Recall makes it easy to store and access it later.
I believe that Recall has the potential to transform the way we learn and discover new things, and I'm passionate about bringing this vision to life. If you're interested in staying up-to-date with our progress, be sure to follow me on Product Hunt and check out our website for more information. Thanks for your support!
@paul_richards1 I love this problem space! I always have problems finding things I looked at before and often find myself fruitlessly searching my browser history!
Hi!
Good luck on the launch!
Can Recall help me in learning new English words? It was first idea about using your product that came into my head. I'm not sure maybe there are already exist extensions for words drilling...
@dzianis_yatsenka Thanks. Its probably not the best tool for that. You could add definitions to news things/words that you are learning. But its not really the focus for the app.
Congratulations for the launch 🎆
I do needed this, many times I want to look back at something but don't want to go through it fully.
Can we customise the response in any way ?
@satyanarayan_prashar thanks for the comment. At the moment it is not possible to customise the response but we plan to add an option where you can set how much detail you want in the summary.
Hi Paul! Excited about this new feature - it really is a game-changer. I have a crazy schedule and never get the time to catch up on all my articles and podcasts, love how I can still stay in the loop!
Can you share more on pricing?
@nikolay_kurbatov hey, yeah edge is chromium based so it will be easy to create a build for it. We just need to add it to the edge store. I will do this for Firefox and Edge in the coming week.
@paul_richards1 Awesome! I think it would be a killer feature to apply the app's functionality for EdTech platforms, as I mentioned: EdX, Coursera, and Udemy. Although, their API could be constructed in a different fashion in contrast with YouTube.
It's so hard to stay on top of new developments in tech. My bandwidth to read all the articles and listen to podcasts and watch videos is low, and I'm excited to try this out. Are you also thinking of providing a recommendations feed? And also, a summary of the podcasts or posts of a channel? That'll help me a lot to prioritize what I put time into and where.
@krishadi yeah we definitely want to add a personalised recommendations feed in the future. I haven't thought about doing a summary for an entire channel, its something to think about but would probably use a lot of language model tokens.
@mikestaub Hey Mike, no it is not open source. Any data that you save to the Recall app the primarily saved in IndexedDB locally in your browser, we then have a syncing engine that keeps data in sync between devices and also acts as backup. If there is demand for it, we could add end-to-end encryption which would actually not be too difficult with our setup as all queries are done in the client.
@paul_richards1 I think this is very important. Allowing browser extensions to read the data you have loading in your browser is obviously extremely dangerous if you cannot audit the code.
Looks really nice @paul_richards1 . One tip might be to offer a global 'uncheck' box for the bookmark importing, so you don't have to uncheck them all manually if you have lots. That way I can select a few starter bookmarks quickly and easily. But overall, really like the idea and the implementation looks excellent.
I feel like this is a problems that's been crying out for a solution for years! Am I the only one who's bookmark bar is an embarrassment? Saved so much stuff, but never got around to consuming it because it's so poorly organised! Good work solving this problem folks! 👏 👏
@robinsinghvi thanks for the comment Robin, let me know how it goes if you try it out. We really curious to get early feedback from user like you who have this problem.
Hey Paul! Your passion project is really intriguing, and I can definitely see how it could be useful for people who love learning and exploring new things. I'm impressed with the ability to store and access information from various sources, and the easy-to-use organization features.
Overall, I think Recall has a lot of potential to change the way people consume information, and I'm interested in following your progress on Product Hunt.
Cheers to a successful launch day. Well done!
