All certainty is an illusion. All control is a delusion. Life is unpredictable. Don't burn bridges, but don't be too nice either, or you'll be the bridge that's on fire. Show up every day. Consistency beats talent in the long run.

Consistency is what separates a man from a boy. At start-ups, the bottleneck is never on thoughts but always on execution. Hence, it is super important to get up every day and execute heads down.

I used to be able to work endless hours to accomplish everything on my to do. At this stage in my life with little kids, I simply can't (and don't want to) work around the clock. I need to be smarter about prioritizing my work, saying no to doing somethings, and simply be where my feet are (focus on work when I'm working, but make my focus my kids when I'm with them).

You can't control everything, you have to be prepared for the unexpected. Or at least accept it without panic.

"Potentissimus est qui se hаbеt in potestate." Last year I fully accepted stoicism. I realized that I was only in control of my own choices. I choose how to react to this or that circumstances, this or that situations. Everything else is beyond my sphere of influence and responsibility. And only by developing and expanding my area of responsibility I will be able to make more choices, and the spectrum of what I can influence will grow with me. This change of mindset has helped me find spiritual peace and motivation to achieve the ambitious goals I set for myself. I began to see the world more clearly and to focus on what I could change myself and not get bogged down by the chaos that surrounds us in our daily lives. I recommend reading "How to Be a Stoic" book by Massimo Pigliucci and "The Daily Stoic" book by Ryan Holiday. You can also read "The Daily Stoic Journal: 366 Days of Writing and Reflection on the Art of Living" book by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman. In the last book, you can keep your own stoic journal, answering one philosophical question each day.

Don't put off till tomorrow something you can do today. Life passes horrifically quickly, so get a move on and achieve what you want as soon as you can!

I think one of the most important things I learned, is that if something isn't business critical, it doesn't have to be done right now and it's not worth losing sleep over it. Even just using the term "business critical" and the question "Does the whole business crumble if this isn't finished today?" helps me a lot to deal with superiors, who try to push something that's maybe important, but not the number 1 priority.
