Hi Product Hunters! 👋 I am Richard, co-founder of Adent Health. We are a medtech-startup based out of Copenhagen, Denmark, and we are all about giving people access to dental care. Amazing to have @kevin hunting us <3 🌱 How it all started When I was in my early 20’s I was diagnosed with periodontitis, a severe and irreversible gum disease. I only found out years later that it was a wrong diagnosis. Now, in my mid-30’s, I have been able to rebuild my dental health through effective routines and strict monitoring by dentists. Adent Health is technology designed to give you back control of your smile. The key to battling most dental problems is prevention through routines and taking action as soon as trouble is emerging. 🦷📱 Dental home scans & personalized dental care Adent uses AI computer vision to scan photos of your mouth, taken from home with your smartphone. For free, and on the mission to give everyone personal recommendations on how to keep their mouth healthy. No mouth is the same, and oral care is individual. Our aim is to tailor recommendations specifically for each mouth. All recommendations are curated by our dentists. Adent is a certified medical device and 40.000 dental professional hours have been invested in building the algorithms and testing the clinical outcomes. 🔮 What’s next In the future, we are planning to scan for more conditions, better personalization of recommendations, and create routines to help people maintain their dental health over time. 💛 Let us know what you think We’ll be hanging out in the comments section, and would love to hear what you think. We are always really excited about feedback - and believe it is the only way to build a great product :) ✨😺 Exclusive on Product Hunt Do a scan, and exclusively get a free video consult 🦷📹🧑‍⚕️ with one of our dental professionals (value: $65). Let us know via the link below, and we'll be in touch within a few days to book you in for your virtual appointment* www.adent-health.com/exclusive-o... Love, Richard & the Adent team *No surprises. We would just love your feedback too. Consults are subject to local regulations.

Rasmus Bruun
It’s not usually a word associated with dental care, but Adent is fun to use. The app works really well, and the images and wording are both fun and encouraging; yet still professional.
Richard Bundsgaard
@rasmus_bruun Whuup whuup! Highly appreciated Rasmus! You've been an amazing part of the community from Day 1, and we are looking forward to road ahead! 🎉
Michael Bjerregaard
Wow! As someone who haven't been to a dental check-up in a while.... I am little scared to get the result. But amazing with the possibility to check at anytime (and still excited to get my result). How many more conditions do you think will be possible to track via dental scans for you in the future ? Or are you planning to expand further than dental scans?
Richard Bundsgaard
@michael_bjerregaard Thank you for your feedback! 🙌 The apps current strengths are in surface caries, inflammation in the gums, dental plaque and tartar/calculus, gum recession (appears when you have brushed too hard with the toothbrush) and teeth misalignment such as crowding, spacing, overbite, crossbite, and etc. 🦷 We are working on expanding detection to additional conditions which can be spotted based on images and questions. Our mission is to help people understand their mouth, incl. teeth, gums and all the other mucosa (soft tissue). Given that there are more than 8,000 types of conditions in the mouth, that is what we stick to for now 😊

Ana T Fleitas
This product is great and can be used to detect dental problems early. It is important to maintain good oral health.
Leila Samadi
@ana_t_fleitas Couldn't agree more, thank you for your support!
Casper Bjerregaard
Say I have caries between two of my molars (back teeth), how does the app spot that? you know: "hidden caries". Love the idea though!
Leila Samadi
@casper_bjerregaard Thanks, that's a great question! Assuming that the caries is only between those two molars (approximal caries), chances are that it won't be detected through visual signs whereas an X-ray will be necessary – but what we often see is that it might get detected if the user responds that they feel pain or sensitivity. That said, it is a situation where it's key to tell what the app can and cannot detect. We take it very seriously to not give a user ""false optimism"" that everything is OK if it's not. I can't stress enough: It's truly impressive what we're able to detect from five dental photos, and we have spent more than 40.000 dentist hours to train our model, and a team of dentists are constantly working on improving, reviewing and ensuring the quality of the work our machine does. BUT the algorithms don't spot everything, and we are not put in this world to replace dentists - a dentist will always be gold standard. The app does not provide a diagnosis, it helps you track your dental health. Our mission is to provide good dental health, and we are strong believer in prevention and early intervention as key to that. You scan your teeth and get a 95% accurate answer, compared to an answer from a dentist, on the state of your dental hygiene. And because you can do it every one or two weeks, we see that our users are tracking their health. Don't hesitate with any follow up questions! :-)
Johannes Bennetzen
very good

@johannes_bennetzen highly appreciate the feedback! 🙌
Laust Axelsen
Hi Adent Health, great product, great pitch and idea. What happens after the initial report is sent? Does it track my progression over time? What if it gets worse or "I'm doing the recommendations wrong"? Can I take this app to my dentist and show them the result somehow? Wondering about the magic after the video-pitch ends :)
Laust Axelsen
Also, how do you store the information? Do you track or potentially store data using international healthcare standards i.e. ICD10/11, Snomed CT? Do you have plans for potentially working together with EHR systems and if so, via FHIR / OpenEHR or alternative methods?
Leila Samadi
@laust_axelsen Thanks you for all those great questions! Once you do a scan you can expect to get a report back on the selected topic with findings such as dental caries, gum inflammation, gum recession, dental plaque and tartar and teeth misalignment such as crowding and spacing. Based on what the AI has found you will also get a dental recommendation. You can then choose to track your dental health over time with a reminder to do a new scan as often as it fits your schedule :) In case of you get a feedback where your dental health has gotten worse over time you will get a new dental recommendation which probably will be "You should seek advice from a dental professional. If you do not have an appointment with your dentist planned, you should make one" 🦷 You are more than welcome to show the results to your dentist. We are also currently working with dentists on the platform who do virtual consultations with their patients after they do a scan 🦷
Thøger Bundsgaard
@laust_axelsen Thanks Laust for the follow up regarding data storage! We map outputs of most of our algorithms into SNODENT, which is a subset of SNOMED CT. That said, we are still in our early days of aligning strictly towards the taxonomies you mention. But great question, it's definitely a key track for the integration of the software to other systems going forward. If you have anything specific in mind I would love to follow up – ping me at tb@adent.dk

You won’t believe it - I chipped a tooth today bitting a stupid MacBook Air charger that had got stuck F#%*ing hate old devices ..! Anyways, so there was a reason for me to get this app. Coz I guess a crack on the top front tooth isn’t enough to go my brother-in-law dentist I’ll just Adent it
Leila Samadi
@jacobvahr Sorry to hear about your chipped tooth! And you are absolutely right - you can just "Adent it" and get a personal feedback on your teeth and gums🦷. You are also welcome to book an free virtual appointment via this link https://www.adent-health.com/exc..., and we'll be in touch within a few days 👍
Marilina Schwartz
I love the idea to promote dental health for all people! I know that there is inequality in oral health in several countries including Denmark. I hope this can help some of those who usually skip a dental examination/ check up, and seek a dentist or dental hygienist if necessary. This is a great method to see if there actually is a cavity where I felt sensitivity, or why my gum is bleeding. That said, I hope not that people will see this as an actually examination and rely 100% on this. Is it correctly understood, that it is impossible for the app to see the difference between gingivitis and initial parodontitis, as well as it can be impossible to see approximate cavities? But so awsome if it helps seek dental care when needed, and gives instructions how to achieve a better oral hygiene. Wish the team all the best! Love from a dental hygienist.
Leila Samadi
@marilina_schwartz Thank you for the great feedback! You are completely right - NOT all cases of dental caries can be spotted on intraoral images (for example approximal caries) and we don't claim to do either. That being said we have spent more than 40.000 dentist hours to train our model, and a team of dentists are constantly working on improving, reviewing and ensuring the quality of the work our machine does 🦷 I can't stress enough: Adent health's mission isn't to give diagnoses - that is the job of the dental hygienist and dentist! Our mission is to provide good dental health to everyone and the possibility to track your overall dental health 🦷 We are strong believer in prevention and early intervention! 🙌
Preeti Chovoor
Awesome idea, love being on top of my dental health!

Amazing app, enjoyed it a lot!
Richard Bundsgaard
@jusef_sammadi HAPPY to hear that! 🙏🏻 😄 And don't be shy to give us feedback if you have some! What is the one thing you enjoyed the most, and what would have been nice to add to the app 💭
Amanda Adamson
Congratulations on the launch! I am surprised by the capabilities of this product.
Richard Bundsgaard
@amanda_adamson thanks so much -- and really appreciate the feedback! 🙌
Louis Bjerregaard
Love it! but tell me, what happens if the AI predicts something wrong? Best of luck to you!
Leila Samadi
@bangsboo Thanks for the question, and of course you're right in assuming that the algorithms might predict something wrong. As a dentist I have to stress that it's not a diagnostic tool. It helps you track your dental health. So as a user you will always want to consider whether you agree with your Scan Report. That said, results are currently 95% accurate compared to an answer from a dentist. And if any concerns arise, we will always prompt you to connect with a dentist through the app and make an appointment to get the necessary treatment!
Anne Mette Stougaard
Big potential for this app to help a lot of people learn more about their dental health!
Richard Bundsgaard
@anne_mette_stougaard Highly appreciated, Anne Mette! :D We totally share the same vision on this, and you've been amazing part of the journey since the start!
