Git good

gm winners and welcome back to the Leaderboard! In today's edition: A game for 10x developers, a place to explore AI characters, and a music app that helps you lock in. Let's dive in.

Time to git good

GitQuest: A gamified leaderboard for GitHub commits.

I love games - I like even more when they make me productive. GitQuest is a great way to gamify building while encouraging your friends to do the same. It's super simple too, a leaderboard based on your GitHub activity and nothing needed from your end. Honestly, using a GitHub repo for the foundation of a productivity tool makes a lot of sense. Curious who will be number one now hehe.

AI nostalgia

Scena - A platform to create, share & meet AI personas

I like this because it takes AI out of the standard interface (chat) and allows it to explore a proven medium from decades ago. I’m not sure if this specific company will become the dominant player, but seeing this makes me think about what an AI-driven Sims, Roller Coaster Tycoon, or—dare I say—a personal childhood favorite, Runescape, might look like. Scena is exploring this concept on the fringes, and I applaud the team for stepping forward as one of the leaders boldly declaring, “We don’t want another AI chat interface.”

Less is more

Project Ambience: Get deep work done with AI-tailored ambience mixes.

If you’ve ever wasted time scrolling for the perfect background noise only to get sucked into a YouTube vortex (been there), Project Ambience makes a strong case for simplicity. It tailors ambience mixes to your task—working, studying, whatever—and even adds a Pomodoro timer to keep you focused. It’s clever, but I wonder if adding more features, like task lists or user-generated mixes, might overcomplicate something that works because it’s so straightforward. Sometimes, less really is more.
