A similar question was asked on a subreddit. Interested to know what ProductHunters think here. What are your opinion regarding usage of AI in content marketing, image generators, strategy planning, or any other digital marketing areas? Do you think AI will be more powerful than human intervention or there will be a boundary?

Most people on the planet are already using Google and rich Western markets, starting with the US, have been maturing. The geopolitical situation is not helping, as several years ago Google and other mega-tech companies thought that markets all over will be ready for picking. The reality is far different, as security, privacy and geopolitical concerns are working to close them and really break the global Internet into a patchwork of isolated island networks. As for number of searches and clicks on ads, searches have been kind of stagnating which is understandable but Google has been able to continually squeeze more and more clicks. That is the main factor offsetting their continued declines in cost-per-click (CPC). Keep in mind that most of the new clicks are actually not in search but on new platforms such as mobile and YouTube. It becomes quite clear that the main challenge they have always been facing is how to even incrementally improve quality of ads and increase click-through rates. This is not rocket science, one has just to ask themselves when was the last time they stopped their searches, YouTube or mobile viewing and said ‘Wow, these ads are truly awesome and totally appropriate’. I did not think so. Overall click-through rates are so low, in low single digit percentages that improving them just by little would yield a tremendous boost in revenues. The tremendous difficulty of the advertising problem has been recognized by Google and others for ages and they have been spending continually many more resources for advertising, both in terms of people and machines, than for core search, which is considered kind of solved problem. So this is why I think digital advertising and marketing will be the toughest nut to crack for AI the same it has been so far. Irrational behaviors of crowds, which is hallmark of digital advertising, has been recognized to be impenetrable by even geniuses such as Newton. He famously said “ I can calculate precisely the movement of heavenly bodies but not he madness of men” after losing a big chunk of his wealth in stocks. I think AI will have an equally hard time figuring out such madness.

I think it's all a question of time. At some stage, unless there's human intervention, I think AI will take over a lot. How much of it happens in the next 10 years I'm not so sure. I've been wrong on tech predictions before though. :-)

@sven_radavics well, based on my little experience with github copilot, I can guess it will take over most of the easy to do web dev stuffs in 3-4 years.

I realy think so. Today, nothing can study and improve the UX as well as an AI, this science of UX is the absolute result of Marketing. So, in my opinion, it's like for calculations no brain can give a result as precise and fast as a program.

@fares_aktouf interesting thought! Can you share some UX examples influenced by AI?

I think it will compliment human marketing in a large way but I don't think it will dominate the industry

@aaronoleary Which areas do you think will be most affected?

No doubt AI has unique content and plays an important role in digital marketing and provides cost efficiency but Google don't like AI. Google put penalty to those websites who used AI tool for content writing or use of images. I think you should use original content for your website for ranking at top on Google. Like this article https://tennisdig.com/how-to-cho... uses original content by human.

@aizan0099 Do you think stock images are helpful?

Ai Actually does a good job creating a copy for facebook and/or google ads. I generated a lot of copys for my brand but never actually tested them. Do someone here has any exmple of their results using AI?
    Jonathan Nass
@paolo_falconi it would be awesome to put Ai copywriting head to head in an A/B test with a FB/Google Ads guru!

I questioned Google and here's what they had to say: https://youtu.be/Yx997SsiYlw?t=1329 (YT video on Google Search Central channel)

@ashrahman Yes. I had this conversation in the start of April. They launched a core update in May that attacked the AI content sites. And in August second attack was launched through Helpful Content update. Many more to come. It's Google versus AI as my questions and John Mueller's answers clears the air.

Even while AI is helpful, those of you who work in the digital marketing sector are aware that it still requires uniqueness, inventiveness, and imagination to create new methods to interact with clients. In other words, human interaction is still necessary in digital marketing. It requires storytelling and emotion, two skills that AI lacks in the ways that are now required for successful marketing. Although there will always be a need for human talents, you'll gain from understanding and accepting that your position in digital marketing may mutate with time. The objective of the majority of businesses and marketing departments today is to figure out how to use AI to their advantage when it comes to their digital marketing strategy rather than to completely replace human employees.

I won't say Taking over but let me put it this way. A new world is opening up for digital marketers, This technology of Generative AI is still in its early stages, but the possibilities for its use in marketing are endless. In the future, generative AI could be used to create entire marketing campaigns from start to finish. For now, however, it is being used to create individual pieces of content, such as images, videos, and articles. Also, AI is capable of generating content that is creative and engaging. The biggest advantage is human creators are limited by their own experiences and biases. This means that they are more likely to create content that is narrower in scope and less inclusive. Generative AI, on the other hand, is not restricted by any human limitations. As such, it can create content that is wider in scope and more inclusive. I hope this helps.

AI can take some of the tasks: Keyword research, discovery and basic content writing People will still have to review: designs, writing and copies :)

@yashthakker I completely agree with this. Even in heavily automated industries like manufacturing, the place of human quality control has never really been eliminated.
Yes AI will improve digital marketing

AI cannot think on its own. If it can, that would be dangerous for all of us. AI is powerful. I've used many tools and all of them blew my mind. If you know what you want, AI can create something which can be produced by 5+ pro-people in respective fields. AI tools are like hiring a team of pros at a fraction of its cost.
    John Alimi
@gaurav_verma10 I agree! "AI tools are like hiring a team of pros at a fraction of its cost". That's what machines do. They make things faster, CHEAPER and arguably better, just like we have seen in other industries like manufacturing.

For now, I doubt it. This technology still needs to be developed.
    John Alimi
@gamerseo Absolutely, I think some of the technologies are still lacking e.g. automated designs for ads and social media content. I recently came across an app that could create a video based on a marketing copy and it was anything but usable.

Isn't that already happening? Each day, there is a new AI writer promising unbelievable results.

Technology replacing humans... I really don't think ..Long way to go Human brain and touch would always be required
    Rich Watson
I do believe it will play a significant difference

There will always be a human required to check the generated product via AI, whether it is a text, an image, or whatever. Just like factories still need quality checks for products that have been produced by machines for many years 😉
    Baishali Chhabra
While there is no doubt that AI will play a significant role in digital marketing over the next few years, it's ultimately up to humans to determine how that will happen. In the meantime, marketers should continue to leverage AI tools and platforms for their own efficiency and productivity.

Just met an AI language specialist at a conference and we discussed that we're far away from great instant translation and nuance of writing copy BUT we are already seeing the easy creation of imagery working well. I think they'll be some weirdness for some years and then it's going to be extremely automated and then soon after people's interest in social media will wane.

There's a great story about how all the early great minds of AI/Deep learning left the Universities to join Google, Baidu etc. "Taking over" is a strong word but definitely enhancing.
