Everyday, we are undoubtedly evolving as tech-enthusiasts and I believe social media is going to be a huge disruption in our lives. Do you think technologies like AI, VR, Metaverse would greatly influence the upcoming dimensions of social media. Would love to hear your perspective on what social media holds in the future?

I believe that the future of social media will be greatly influenced by technologies like AI, VR, and the Metaverse. These technologies will enable users to have more immersive and interactive experiences on social media platforms, and will allow for the creation of new and innovative forms of content and communication. For example, AI algorithms could be used to personalize and curate user feeds and recommend content based on individual interests and preferences, while VR and the Metaverse could enable users to create and explore virtual worlds and engage with others in real-time. Overall, I believe that the future of social media will be more dynamic, engaging, and immersive, and will continue to transform the way we connect and communicate with others.

I believe that social media will become much more immersive and interactive and that we will see a lot more use of virtual reality and augmented reality. I hope it won't end up like on Black Mirror tho 🤣

Technologies will greatly influence social media in the future for sure, and in good ways, I suppose.

Black Mirror gave some hints! The only question is, do we want it?

One things for sure. It’ll be more private than public.

Social media in the future will likely involve more personalized experiences, increased automation, and more sophisticated analytics to track user engagement. We could also see the emergence of virtual reality platforms, where users can interact with each other in a simulated environment. Augmented reality technology can also be used to bring experiences to life, as well as enhance our current social media interactions!

I agree that emerging technologies will have a positive impact on social media. Despite that, major social media networks will face a downturn, and new networks will rise to fill the gap.

Too early to say. I mean metaverse and AI are all still in very nascent stages like internet in 2000's. Long way to go and evolve. But regardless, mental wellness needs to be in the forefront of whatever we build in the future. Enough damage has already been done by social media reducing attention span and keeping people hooked for hours mindlessly on short form videos. I hope it doesn't get worse.

Social media will differ depending on which lines the web3 is developed, which comes before the Metaverse. If today's start-up chooses the creator economy, security, and freedom model, we will have social platforms with full integrations; imagine an Instagram art account, which is also an NFT store. Likewise, when you see a TikTok video and like clothes, in the web3, I can imagine AI identifies the clothes, and with one click of a button, you can order them for yourself. Check the movie HER if you want to see how he web3 looks when implemented. When the Metaverse becomes mainstream, personalized avatars become a thing. Ready Player One describes the virtual world in which we have dived for a whole body experience.

The future of social media is not limited to the metaverse. At thisapp we believe there is a huge opportunity for a social networking platform that is based around informal events. Check out our approach; here we would love to get your thoughts: https://www.producthunt.com/post...

I think VR, Metaverse will be popular only when the barrier to entry decreases. It is still not very accessible as the cost of owning a VR set is still too high.

Not VR, Metaverse. However more transparent and controllable recommender systems driven by NLU/prompt engineering will have a huge impact.

Social media has already formed its own categories - 1. places to vent out - Twitter, Reddit and 2. LinkedIn—people hire, try to become influencers through knowledge sharing, and have light moments. The venting out places are here to stay-AR/VR will hugely influence how people can express themselves. The money-making side could be access to creator tools—better filters, AI-based image/video creation, longer videos, etc., and ads. LinkedIn-like platforms are probably going to create more space for events/announcements, press conferences, job fairs, newsletters, certifications, and more integrations with hiring tools—we will see monetization of such platforms beyond Premium and ads. LinkedIn may become a lead generation engine.

Hopefully it'll be a bit more mature and more considerate of the effects it can have on its users' well-being in the long run.

I think social media will evolve in two directions. 1. Adding more features (like shopping, AI, VR) to current social media to generate more revenues. 2. Building a no-noise social media app, where smart people exist but tough to generate revenues. (Sooner or later people will love this one is what I think) What do you say?

i think the metaverse could have a lot of impact, and be very powerful. But frankly, there could be a lot of downsides, like in Ready Player One.
