Do you think Twitter (X) will disappear? My take on it

Since the acquisition of Musk, there have been many "scandals" on the network:
– "freedom" of speech (but when people commented in a parody of Musk, their account could be cancelled),
– many pointless feature changes,
– uncensored content,
– the outflow of advertisers (they refused to be promoted alongside uncensored content),
– too much politics,
– problems with governments (see Brazil),
– promised bots removals (but there are still many fake accounts) and much more.
Is this leading to the demise of Twitter? 🤔
I do not think so because...
– This social media is still used by the most influential, powerful and rich people and their actions.
– And as usual, people want to be close to these people (and partially be like them).
– It is the source of news. (one of the most used on the internet among social media)
What is your take on it? + Do you use this social media?

X is a business, so it follows business laws.
Musk has to pay a lot of interest on the $13 billion debt. So the question is how long is he willing to put more money in, as they are cash flow negative.
My guess: For Musk it was not a business decision to buy twitter, but a political one. I think the election will have a big impact of the future of X. As long as it serves Musks political agenda, he will keep it. As soon as it doesn't, it will be gone.

@busmark_w_nika The race is too close to predict I guess. As the question was about X, I think currently is the time it is more relevant than in the future.

I think Twitter is what you make it. It's customizable enough that you can avoid (most of) the toxic parts and create a feed of decent content.
That said... the platform will likely keep losing value & advertisers for the reasons mentioned, but it's very unlikely (imo) to fail entirely.

I don't think it would…considering the power Elon Musk holds and also, the way ppl still use it regardless of the troubles they face.
But.. I guess, the face of X, in terms of trust and transparency will change and we cannot deny it
I mostly agree with you, but I think Musk will eventually shrink it to a bare minimum - or possibly sell it to someone who values it for more than just having a platform and audience.

I agree that it won't disappear anytime soon. E.g. it seems that nearly all western governments and politicians (left and right) are still using it, if only because so many people are following them there.
I also think it works better than the current alternatives (Facebook & Threads, didn't try Bluesky yet).
Still, could be so much better. So I think a really innovative new platform could overtake it.
@busmark_w_nika It was a lot better w/ musk’s because of the things that came out abt Jack’s use of Twitter (I think it was abt lack of data privacy)
Musk’s X was great for a yr… until it wasn’t for the reasons u noted
If X become increasingly difficult to use then users may seek out more friendly platform
I don't think it's going anywhere either, for the same points you mentioned
I don’t see it going anywhere unless their revenue continues to drop. I’m no expert but have a feeling it has to do with the outlaw of advertisers. Twitter / X, I feel is one of the top three social platforms available.
I’m curious to hear more on people’s input on if they think it is going to eventually fall.
Nah, I doubt Twitter is going away anytime soon. Elon's too stubborn to let it fail. But who knows, maybe he'll drive it into the ground with all the crazy changes he's making 🤷♂ Guess we'll see! I'm still using it for now.
No no, these are all rumour
I don't think Twitter is going anywhere any time soon.
Only time will tell, but I think X has a good chance of surviving given Elon's track record and determination. He seems committed to improving the platform. That said, a lot of the changes so far have been pretty controversial, so there's definitely a risk of alienating users. We'll have to see how it plays out. I'm cautiously optimistic but not totally confident either way at this point.
I think so because of elon mask unpredictable decisions and controversial changes 🙄
