As a developer and someone who has hired developers I see them as fairly standard.
Flat out refusing to take one seems like a red flag to me. Though i've never experienced that so not sure why anyone would refuse, may be more to do with asking for tests that take multiple days rather than a couple hours? (I tend to keep the tests pretty short).
I'm not a huge fan of doing coding tests in an...

Set attainable short term goals and a reward for getting them done. I like to work on a feature and when its completed I give myself some time to relax gaming or a day off to go on a hike or something depending on how big the feature was. That way I don't feel bad for relaxing a bit as I've just been productive.

It depends on what automated testing we're talking about. Unit tests are usually a breeze to write, run and stick in an automated pipeline.
Integration tests such as API endpoint tests are also usually as simple as unit tests if not a little slower (I use postman/newman for these).
Its end to end tests such as selenium tests where they are slow, bit cumbersome to write (unlike unit tests they...

I think 12 hour am/pm. You're much less likely to have someone complain about subtracting the 12 to convert it. While some people do that instinctively some do not however with 12 hour am/pm I would say most can read it at a glance despite some people potentially having a preference the other way.
Which is better, the 24-hour clock, or the 12-hour am/pm clock?

Hi Product Hunters, I'm Tobias and just over a year ago I released the first version of microvist.com a side project of mine. Since then the response has been fantastic and has helped refine it even more.
Today I'm incredibly excited to share my first ever mobile app, Microvist for iOS and Android.

I've been working on a eco challenge app for the past few months (so can't take part as it's not in the set timeframe). But I am excited to see what others are coming up with and the PH choice of theme for this years makers festival :D Launching any day now and then after hope to find some likeminded makers.
What are you building for Makers Festival? 🍃

I use https://www.hubspot.com to keep a note of clients or people I've contacted so I don't re-spam them if I know they're not already interested.
Do you take notes on people and interactions you have with them?

On my mobile, only 3. On my laptop about 3 windows with 30 tabs each.
I use my mobile for consuming content and my laptop for creating it so need more tabs to switch between different bits of documentation and stack overflow questions.
How many tabs are currently opened on your mobile browser?

Finding my first customer in the hope to eventually turn my side project into my living. I'm a developer so while there's nothing stopping me it's slow going as it's not really my area of expertise.
What's your biggest goal & what's stopping you from achieving it?

Not having enough hours in the day to get everything done. Having a 9-5 and a couple side projects leaves little time for much else. Then again I love what I do so can't complain too much.
What is your biggest day-to-day challenge?

I would probably take more time learning non tech skills like marketing or design. I enjoy programming and have gotten pretty good at making robust products but always struggle finding ways to get it in front of people.
I just turned 30 and I have a question.

Thursday is my favourite day for being productive. That's so I can feel ok about being less productive on my real favourite day Friday.
What's your favorite day of the week and why?

I try to alternate days between building and growth. It's tough because I much prefer building but it helps to have a bit on an interest in the community you're building something for.
I will often stray to more days building if there's a bug or a task that needs a few days of focus. Context switching can be tough.

That my data is only stored and used for reasonable purposes by the service I'm using. So if it makes the service better and not shared with others then I'm fine. If it is used to spam me with ads or have other sites spam me with ads then I'm not fine with it.

Sometimes just going to another team member and explaining it gives me that lightbulb moment on what the cause of an issue may be. Explaining stuff to others just makes you think in a slightly different perspective I think.
