Building a Community Platform for Startups to Build Customer Communities
After spending about 18 years building various communities; I found that the existing community platforms do not address two core issues:
1. Organic user growth
2. User retention
To solve this, I began building a community platform I wish existed when I was building communities.
Right now, we are pre-launch and looking to onboard a few communities that want to build communities around their...

Marketing >> Engineering + Sales
After spending over 15 years in the industry, running a business and multiple successes and failures with SaaS products, here's my conclusion:
> Marketing >>>> Engineering + Sales +
Before anyone of you gets offended, let me tell you, I'm an engineer turned marketer. I love building products. Give me my code editor (and some coffee) and you'll see a happy man building awesome...

Building a Community for Business is Like Investing in a Mutual Fund
I'm building a community platform that lets entrepreneurs build a community of users for their business. I am offering demos of the software to potential customers.
Just about an hour ago, I was in a demo call where I was answering a customer question - and I said "Building a community is like investing in a mutual fund". I said it and thought "aha! that's a cool line!". The customer is...

Bot Menace on ProductHunt 😵💫
I'm sure this topic has been picked up multiple times; but there's no fix yet.
I created a thread https://www.producthunt.com/discussions/what-s-the-most-challenging-part-of-community-building to understand and offer help; but after looking at the comments; I've a strong feeling that at least 50% of the comments are straight out of ChatGPT.
PS: I'm a user of ChatGPT for a while and have...

Time to move your community away from Slack
Slack has updated its policies and said that they'll delete your content older than 1 year: https://slack.com/intl/en-gb/help/articles/29414264463635-Updates-to-message-and-file-history-on-free-workspaces . Paid plans start at $8/per/month - which means if your community has 100 members, you will have to pay $800/mo to Slack.
Slack (and Discord) are chat-tools that work the best when you have...

I believe the stage doesn't matter. It's all about knowing the language your audience speaks and then using words and tone that resonates with them. I really like PostHog - they use fun to sell their serious SaaS!
How do you define your product's brand voice when you are an early stage startup?

"I’m at the stage in life where I stay out of arguments. Even if you say Discord and Slack are great for community building and 1+1=5, you’re right. Have fun."

PoV: Marketing your own business is harder than marketing for others
I'm a developer turned marketer who led growth marketing for B2B SaaS companies. About 2 months ago, I turned an IndieHacker who's built product and now trying to market them.
When I worked for others - I worked with a clear strategy and never doubted anything I implemented; and got great results.
But now, as a marketer of my own products, I often doubt my own strategies. As a developer - I...

Looking for early users for my community platform
Hey PH Fam 🙏 !
I am looking for early users for my most ambitious project to date.
It's a community platform designed to keep users engaged.
Think of it as your own Facebook/LinkedIn group on steroids, that can run on your own domain.
I can't wait to put it in your hands.
If you wish to take an early look and provide feedback, please connect with me or comment.

1. Building is easy. Marketing is hard.
2. Innovative ideas are easy. Execution is hard.
