Been playing around with Wyndow for the past few days. It's a surprisingly easy way to find events going on around you right in the moment, or at a pre-set time when you know you'll be free, and book tickets quickly. Simple and intuitive UI, pulls relevant content and gives you just enough control. It's perfect for keeping yourself entertained when you're trying avoid your family over the...

Thanks for the hunt, @dswiese!
Cofounder here! We've spent months collaborating with users, building, breaking, and rebuilding Savvy to make it the most efficient way to get people together. We just launched and are very excited to hear what the PH community thinks about our 1.0 version!
Ok, the big question: How is Savvy different than others attacking this massive problem?

I've been using Vurb for a couple months now and it is by far one of my favorite new apps. It's a smart top-to-bottom redesign of how we search on mobile and save things we want to revisit. The new group chat component feels a little incongruent since your friends have to be on it to really take advantage of it. I'd prefer to see Vurb focus on getting to know my tastes and interests to make...

As a maker, rooting for moves like this by FB are a bit of a double edge sword. They're great because it helps turn the concept of AI from a scary unknown to something relatable to consumers. A step further, the progress derived from M's roll out could open the doorway for others to push the boundaries even further. But, the move is also a bit worrisome because - if accepted - it means FB will...

No doubt there's a huge problem around getting people together easily for casual get together. The design is nice, it has some cool features like canceling invites if you don't get a minimum number of responses. It's flow reminds me a lot of https://hobnob.io/. Both are probably too much work for an after-work happy hour but just right for a birthday party.

I'd put this right up there with Vurb as one of my favorite new apps in the social media category. Such a rich product, awesome integrations, visually rewarding, and stupid simple to use. I would probably spend 10x more time "feeding" if my contacts were on Vero. User acquisition is going to be battle, as is always for this space, but fingers crossed this can unseat a dinosaur or two.

The Good: Congrats on the launch! The app is beautifully simple and you're coming out of the gate with a boatload of features but it doesn't feel weighed down. That chat experience is legit. The status posting is super lightweight. EMOJI LINKS?!
The Bad: The name "Free" makes App Store searching impossible. The verification code system timed out a couple times though suspect that's not your...

I've been beta testing Rally for the last couple months and they just launched in the App store today. (Congrats team Rally!) It's an interesting concept. My friends and I have dubbed it the "black out" app. Its highlighting features are that it tracks your location throughout the night and the camera feature only stores photos taken after 6 pm. Makes for a funny Hangover-esque reveal the next...

Really impressed. Figuring out a time is a major hurdle and Sunrise does a beautiful job. So simple. One issue I have though is location selection is awkward. Since Meet is your keyboard, there's no way to type in a new location or search for one that isn't frequently used or suggested. A lot of suggested places are just addresses that I don't recognize. Maybe less relevant for some people...

Congrats on the launch! Down is one of the simpler invitation systems I've seen. Biggest issue I see here is that getting users to invest social capital into onboarding their friends is a big ask if they feel like no one else is using it and you haven't been able to prove the app is worth the endorsement yet. I'd venture a guess that this hurdle is what kills most social connection apps'...

The UI/UX on the iOS version is beautiful. These guys are making planning and discovering meetups much more pleasant. I'm curious to see if the use case of a "micro-meetup" is really a hit, which seems to be public events that are designed for groups of <50 or so people. The community is still really small, and that's ultimately what's going to make or break any community-driven platform...

Linute is a social event planning/discovery app that just launched about a week ago after a successful Kickstarter campaign earlier this year. Apps like this tend to be very busy, but Linute does a great job retaining a really clean and organized experience. Almost too clean. As a first-in-network user, there's not much to do on here even if you are inclined to plan an event because you have to...
