I usually ask myself two questions. (1) How did we do compared to our targets? (2) How did I feel doing the work this year?
If we meet all of our numbers but it doesn't feel good, then we know that next years goals should focus on culture. If we feel great but aren't succeeding then we have to wonder if we're working on the right things.
How do you reflect on the past year and set goals for 2022?

Besides the normal research (LinkedIn / Bio / Background) I look at all of those sites with a specific question in mind "How can I be helpful to this person?" If I can find one way to be helpful, then that typically sets the conversation off to a great start!

There's a great quote "It took years and years to become an overnight success." That's what I tell myself - I'm just on the journey!

Believe it or not, the best feedback I ever got was someone doing the hard thing to tell me the real areas I needed to improve. Its the hardest thing for a manager to do, but the most valuable to the people seeking that feedback. Most employees want to improve & grow. Only telling them their strengths doesn't help them do that.
What is the best feedback you have ever received?

I think passion for the work you are doing is the most important. If you have passion, then motivation easily follows. Discipline is critical to make sure that you do the work that is important and not just urgent.

Democracy is at its best when the most people participate. But participation in the US is hard when the media wants to enrage you, candidates only want their voters showing up and citizens are increasingly frustrated with the system. We're looking to the Product Hunt community to give us input & feedback on how we can better serve the voters.

A few approaches we try:
- Make sure it comes from a real person not an info@ email address. Put a real name in there as well.
- Testing before hand if it will go to the Promotions folder in gmail based on the subject we select
- Avoiding the word free or exclamation points in the subject

Thanks Sharath! The weekend is sometimes a great chance to have a look at new things!
We're working on a site to help US voters feel more informed & engaged and vote in the midterms for 2022. Nonpartisan. No ads. We won't sell any data. Just good ole civic engagement. But we're struggling with converting folks to the website. Any thoughts?

This is a great data visualization tool. They've got some very unique data visuals that are hard to find anywhere else (e.g. parliament diagram).
