How much does IRL engagement with your users play into your GTM strategy?
I’ve always operated under the practice that engaging with your first 1,000 users personally gives you the greatest opportunity to learn as you develop and launch. Adding to that, I spent 10+ years in experiential and see the value in that being an integrated part of a marketing strategy. That said, getting people to engage in person isn’t a guarantee anymore given lingering PTSD from COVID....

There’s a difference between moving quickly and rushing. You should move quickly to text a concept, start conversations with your potential users, pitch, etc. that said, rushing just means you haven’t put the effort in before going out and testing. Do the work, take it seriously, just accelerate your pace. Avoid shortcuts.

Failure hurts more deeply than I expected. And each time, it still hurts. Trying to avoid the pain or pretend like I was stronger than everyone else, only put me at a deficit in my ability to recover.
What does recovery from failure look like? Kind of like grief, it stays with you. You don’t leave it behind or forget it. Embracing failure as one of the greatest learning opportunities outs you...

A lot is lost in not seeing people's body language. Also, when you aren't around people seeing their mannerisms and reactions to mundane things, it's hard to gauge how they're reacting to you and what that reaction really means. It makes team retreats so important.

I really like what the team at SNKRHUD are doing. Also Trove Collective and Foodom. I'm kind of all over the place here.

Most effective for us is just asking users directly. Most want to help and like giving feedback if they understand why you need it.

Most people don’t like to talk about death yet the average person will experience 25-36 close, personal losses in their lifetime.
We used to rely on cemetaries to bring people together, newspapers to spread awareness, and scrapbooks to store our memories… but now our communities are spread out, connected digitally, and memorialized in vivid photos and videos.

Mine wasn’t a product in the traditional sense I guess… but my first was a music festival called Life is Beautiful.
Why?
People ages 14-22 were facing the highest rates of suicide during that time (still are?). I had a hand in the entertainment business and met with festival owners across the country asking them to add mental health services to their events. When they all said no, I said...

I’m new to this, but… it seems like people:
- seeking the most community engagement shoot for Tues - Thur because they’re most competitive.
- shoot for weekends to “win” since engagement is low but so is competition
I imagine Mon & Friday fall in the middle somewhere.
For us? We’re launching on Wednesday. 🤷🏾‍♂️

A single, well organized to-do list. That along with caffeine and anti-depressants. The combination has helped immensely. 🤷🏾‍♂️
