You can't not get excited when you see something so different and surprising. That's how I feel about ICON. So many interesting pieces coming together, from avatars, to (huge air quote) "virtual second lives," to turning social influence into a game. Look forward to seeing what this leads to. Manuel Castells would be proud.

Very intrigued by the idea of a secondary phone that lets you leave the features, interface, and distractions behind.
I find it particularly interesting that it takes the idea of always-on connectedness that we see in almost every new product, but employs it in a very thoughtful, targeted way to solve a real problem (i.e. it's not "here's another way to browse twitter").

I can envision so many uses for this!
Communities, of course, but also a directory for anything. Businesses could use it to help people learn about their peers or discover common interests. You could use it (with tags) as a way of helping people find the right person in their organization for help with something specific (i.e. excel master).
