It depends on the goal :)
If you want as much feedback and awareness as possible you should start lower
If you want to validate pricing before public release, you should price it higher. It would also have the side effect of really highlighting who are your best customers for the final product.
Should an MVP be priced higher or lower?🏷️

That sounds interesting. What sets it apart from other OS models?

I would be extremely curious as well. Few considerations (based totally on my gut feelings):
- It can be effective in the early days... but the audience is likely too small to use it as a continuous growth and acquisition channel. Very similar to other smaller channels like Quora Ads.
- Results will depend on the kind of product. Lead magnets, free tools, everything with a very low friction...
Have you ever paid for a promoted post on PH? Was it worth it? 🤔

One book I always recommend to all startup guys is Lost & Founder by Rand Fishkin.
It's one of the most honest views on what it means to run a startup you can find.
If you had to recommend only one book in 2024 what would it be? 📚

We usually have a bunch of backgrounds templates ready in Canva and whenever we're launching, we just add screenshots and customize the copy :)
I think you can do something appealing enough with very low effort, hiring a design agency is probably overkill and a waste of money.
How do you design content for Product Hunt launch post?

Notion for sure.
I think there are a lot of valid alternatives, from Evernote to Obsidian, etc.
It's just a tool... spend less time picking the tool and more time building a solid second brain habit. Consistency is what's gonna make a difference.

It does help a lot. Especially when it comes to fundraising and m&a conversations.
It's also very time consuming so it's ok for just one co-founder to be very active at networking.
Curious about networking's role in startup success?

I would be super productive. I know because I always am when I'm on an airplane or places with no internet connection.
I'd read, write blog posts, write code and overall plan a lot of stuff with no distraction!
If you didn't have internet for a whole week, what would you do? 😃

Totally agree! Gamification is fun, but to be fair it's more useful for PH than for us :)

Lead magnet were extremely effective a few years ago.
Now there are way too many and they've lost effectiveness especially if your promotion plan is a pop up on your website.
I'm a strong advocate of code as a lead magnet. Building a simple free product that is adjacent to your business can drive a huge amount of leads, has a very high perceived value and it's easier to promote!
Do you like lead magnets or Not? 🧐

10 launches, 6 of which ended in the top 3 🥳
However the 4 that didn't were the most successful in the long term from any point of view and resulted in a large exit :)
So don't worry if your launch is not super successful. PH is just a marketing channel. It's great in the early days but it's by no mean a prediction of long term success.
How many launches have you done?

I'm really looking forward to test webflow given the amount of people using it.
So far I've always been using Wordpress. It sucks but it works if you know how to optimize it. It has a large ecosystem of plugins and themes and it's highly customizable to create strong integration between your product and the website.

Yes, twice, with AdEspresso and with Breadcrumbs.io
We handled the process ourselves... I don't see any other option, especially at seed stage investors invest in the team more than the project, it cannot be outsourced.
The main challenge is learning that a lot of no are just part of the game, not a prediction of how your project will perform most of the time.
The other big challenge is that...

Short term I'd say Dev... there's a big shortage of senior developers.
But with the rise of AI in the long run I think the technology part will become a commodity and every niche will become more competitive.
What will set products apart will be UI, Marketing and Branding
The bigger challenge - Marketing or Dev?

I love those steep steps in the charts that clearly show who's buying upvotes and engagement :)
They're obviously not organic... and in my opinion often useful. Sure, you get the gratification of landing #1 on Product Hunt... but if your product sucks, you're not gonna get any revenue or traction by being #1.
If your product doesn't suck... probably you would have made it to the top 5 anyway :)
