Lessons learned from 100 cold connections on LinkedIn
I set a goal this week to connect with 100 new hires on LinkedIn and ask them to check out https://readmefirst.co. This was my first time doing a cold outreach campaign like this, so I wanted to share my results and learnings with you all:
- Out of 100 connection requests, 30 accepted
- Out of 30 connections, 5 responded with feedback or thanks, and 3 signed up on https://readmefirst.co!

I've yet to find a tool that will allow you to schedule threaded tweets, I have no clue if one even exists.
What are the biggest problems you face when using any work/marketing tools?

When I was a PM, I found myself paying more attention to other products' onboarding process because I knew how hard I worked on ours. But I'm finding myself skipping them again whenever given the option.
I have liked follow-up emails after I interact with functionality, providing more information about those features. Feels far less intrusive.
How heavily do you rely on onboarding?

This looks like it could be a massive time saver. I've been continually disappointed with CSPM products in the past. Do you have a demo video anywhere?

BaaS that gives me access to the underlying infrastructure I would choose 10/10. But once it abstracts to a level that I can't psql to the database or ssh onto a host, it gets difficult to justify.
Build your own backend or use a Backend as a service.

I write it down, because I'll absolutely forget it otherwise. And then I build it! At least a half functional working version... I'm a very tactile learner and without being able to interact with my idea I can't tell if it has potential or not

I'm working on increasing transparency and access to information in the workplace at https://readmefirst.co
The main achievement I'm working towards is finding a team that has a README for each member! I'd love to hear about their learnings about each other and how it's changed their working relationships.
Share what you're working on in up to 20 words and how you're going to mark your achievement.

I use to think dark mode was a huge thing to try and build, having never done it before. But after being able to get it up and running in tailwind in under 2 hours https://twitter.com/jreynoldsdev... I have no idea why more sites don’t have it.
I think chrome has a dev flag you can enable that’ll start converting all sites to dark mode for you, automatically 🪄
How do you feel about some user interfaces not supporting dark more? 🤔

I think it starts by making sure you haven’t made them feel excluded in the past and correcting that, if so.
Second to that is making the process asynchronous. Not everyone wants to shine in a big meeting, they want to think through ideas and put together their thoughts. Having a document/platform that allows that is a life saver.
How do you ensure everyone in the team feels empowered to contribute to a discussion?

I had a top-level navigation button for "Support" that opened an in-app widget to submit tickets. I would respond within minutes and trained them to use that for not only support, but feature requests.
It turned into an awesome source of "Oh this would be great!" thoughts from customers.

Shouting into the void - who would have thought building an audience was hard 🤯
I always knew that building an audience was difficult, but in the back of my mind was always "if you build it, they will come". That was until I created a twitter account and started from zero followers, haha.
Growth hacking aside, what was it like getting your first 10/100/1000 members in the community you've built?
