Keep your community super small at first so that your members get comfortable with each other. Then, use video to engage them. Video is far more engaging than text and builds trust faster than any other media.

Whenever possible, I redirect them to asynchronous channels. But, if I do have to have a live call, I use a strict agenda and start by asking the other attendees what they hope to get out of the call. As soon as we reach the outcome, we end the call.

I've had great success using video. I send community members a personal video to welcome them to the community and I find that it helps them feel more comfortable engaging.

Ask for a testimonial at the happiest moment during a customer’s experience with your product. Prioritise video testimonials when you can. They are far more effective than text-based testimonials.
