BIG NEWS:
We've been doing a lot behind the scenes to grow Automedi since our last update. So it's worth filling people in on where we are with ProductHunt and our future.
ProductHunt was a one of a number of channels we looked to, to examine how well it raises awareness of the brand. This included engaging with members and experimenting with, as part of a cohort of channels we could use to...

Definitely prefer it! Formally been running it 6 years, having done it for most of my career as much as I could.
If people are expecting to get responses during working hours, they have no chance. Partly because I prefer to finish tasks, but also because I may be in other calls. Plus, sync communication blocks everyone and delays the person needing my help if they don't just put at least the...

It totally varies. However, you have received feedback on your startup to tell you why you have been rejected and tbh, it seems pretty clear. Though you have to know how they work to understand why.
Each accelerator is different and they often think in aggregate, not in isolation. That way, they are basically divesting their portfolio much like they would divest financial risk if they were VCs...

This is a nice little idea. I was on the team that built ClearPay. ClearPay (AfterPay) and Klarna are the two earlier products that compete in PayPal credit's space. Be interesting to see how this progresses.

Depends on your ethics and aims, but in general, with a tweak, yes.
I'd broaden the "money" thing into value. It certainly will, if you chase Value not money. The reason I say that, money is a by-product of that value. However, value is different in each case.
For example, if you are aiming to raise awareness of a non-profit to get donations, to then help a community, then the value is in...

Mixed bag I'd say. I've been working from home every year for almost a decade.
Some things worth considering
1. Find a boundary strategy and stick to it
2. Don't DEFINITELY make time (life happens)
3. Decide what you want to do in a day - so in accordance with point 2, make it work or do tickets, then stop
4. Touch base with folk when you need to
5. Automate everything else - this s a...

If I may say, this is quite a presumptuous post.
It really does entirely depends on the team member. If you have been "lucky" enough to only work in environments where everyone gets energy from others, then it's perhaps not particularly diverse (in the sense the behaviour and what people get from the office environment is too homogenous). There are some types of people who are happy in their...

IP geolocation has been a staple of mine for almost 25 years. Though I have also used:
* Bluetooth beacons for very short distances (specifically geofencing)
* LoRaWAN with fixed antenna
* GPS
IP services are numerous, but the data is publicly available. You can build your own DB of you want, it but there is now a docker image of it through Maxmind.
Also, probably worth mentioning, though...

Nope. As long as it is general enough, it can certainly pivot.

Chance-giver. definitely!
A few things on it:
1. Frustratingly for me, I used to evangelise it and even set up a new business to do all this 9 years ago. We still work this way, so the pandemic hasn't touched us
2. Not everyone will want it. So companies shouldn't go "remote-only", but have some way of including a small workspace (e.g. co-working spaces - but check health & safety)
3....

As a rule, yes it's much harder for several reasons.
1. The investors need to see a team as doing all of it yourself, means a single point of failure.
2. If you are a technologist, then who does the marketing and sales?
3. Exit prices are much lower for solopreneurs.
In general, in the investment calculations there is a coefficient that multiplies annual revenue, to get the valuation. For...

Do you read "Hidden Comments" in discussion threads?
When people ask Discussion questions, some of us spend a lot of time trying to help others out. Some questions don't have short answers, especially to new startups who need to know a lot of background. Traditional mentors especially, put a lot of time and effort into helping out and the comment just collapses. so it's unlikely to be read. This generally means it's a waste of my time interacting...

Disclosure: Meetings are zero productivity events. I ensure I and my team avoid them as much as possible, unless the investment in the meeting is proving worth it.
However, where they have to happen, then for me, it depends on the meeting and its attendees. Because everyone knows email, less people know JIRA. So for tech teams, I do it in the latter. Ensuring actions are captured, but...

Sometimes. Though I've live in a city where Amazon Prime delivers same day. We also have a couple of general delivery services, linkable by API that can be exploited for "within the hour" delivery too. Which has sometimes become necessary due to the pandemic

Haha! This was my idea several years ago. I think I once even posted it in a thread in here. I never had the time at the time to fully run with it. Glad someone has. I'd be up for it! Just make sure security is watertight.

I have a few war stories from this.
Firstly, with OSS, just launch it. Don't wait.
The problem is then getting people to contribute or view. So you need to actively start using it in projects, and giving community talks to people about it. including demos. Twitch can be useful for this. If you can get it used in any active project, that's even better, as those people can then do talks to...

For most people, this is true! However, there are some contexts where not only are they no help, they're worse!
1. If they are not holding you to account, and you them, then the partnership doesn't work
2. If they are not as strong at something as you are, it's dangerous for you (because they can't support) - this is key in a heavy lifting gym, which is why you may need more than one person....
