I’m David, CEO at Anyone — #1 Product of the Week. AMA 👇
Hey all! I'm David, co-founder and CEO of Anyone that just became #1 Product of the Week — thanks so much for your support!
Prior to building Anyone, I spent 15 years as a creative director and agency leader, working on PR and marketing campaigns that won over 100 awards — including a Grand Prix at Cannes Lions. I've also helped 10+ startups go to market in the last two years.

Love this topic, Basharath – hope it gets a lot of replies!
We built Anyone because everyone on the team had personal experience from not having the right connections or network when setting out to do something. If you're from a small town, or if you didn't go to the right school, it feels like a lot of doors are closed. We wanted to create something that removes those barriers, so that more...

We're bringing the 5-minute phone call back.
It's how previous generations got shit done, had time for 5 meetings before breakfast, rarely misunderstood each other, connected with the world, and called strangers for help—with energy to spare for the evening.

At least 50% of my daily communication with colleagues is through voice notes – love it. But more often than not, you send or receive a 7-minute message that could totally be summarised in bullets. Looking forward to trying this out – looks great!

What’s your favourite ‘opinionated product’?
Hi all,
For the last year, we’ve been building a radically different networking app that only does one thing: give you five minutes of anyone's time.
Can you message people? No.
Can you follow them? No.
Can you post photos? No.
How about videos? No.
Any streaming or recording? No.
So it’s just… phone calls? Yes.
And all calls are... five minutes? Yes.
Before we launch, I'm curious...

Anyone is an app for five-minute phone calls where people share advice, connect with peers, and grow through meaningful conversations — you can talk to your future self, your past self, or someone completely different to learn something new, expand your network and find your flow.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I find that many makers/founders see product-market fit as binary (you either have it or you don't) while in reality, it's rather dynamic. Markets are constantly changing, and products (competitors) are constantly evolving — this means that p/m fit at best is something you can accomplish for a limited time.
Venture-backed early stage founders are especially...

Building an app for both iOS and Android in parallel was pretty intense in retrospect.

What's your favourite book and why?
(Great thread btw, hope to see more replies! For the last year, we've been building an app that makes it easy to jump into conversation with new people, and created hundreds of topics based on the latest research in conversation design. My personal favourite is the book question above, as it's a pretty casual conversation starter that gets people genuinely...
