I’ve used tools such as Autodesk Inventor, Onshape, which are mostly 3D modeling tools geared towards engineers. I’ve never been able to learn creative 3D modeling tools such as Blender or Autodesk maya that are intended more for creative 3D modeling.

I'm not sure what the issue is. What's the concern? People who perform well in a large company can potentially perform poorly in a small company. The reverse is possible as well. What's the measure of a "great performer"?
