Trackabi.com is a good one. It's not that kind of "the next big thing" that solves a problem invented after the invention of the tool, but it's a good quality employee monitoring system that uses gamification to make dull time tracking fun. I confess I'm working on it. ;-)

It's funny to read about summer heat issues while some people have to hide from russian missiles and bombs in their basements (and yes, it's still hot) and manage to generate ideas, do great design, and write quality code. Bad is called good when worse happens ;)
Has this summer affected your productivity?

The primary goal and responsibility of a technical co-founder is to know and control what's happening in the code and the infrastructure of your project. This person shouldn't be the smartest person in the company but should be able to assess made decisions, check the code quality, understand the tech stack, approve tech people hires, etc.
What's crucial, you really need a co-founder and not a...

Can't resist posting trackabi.com time tracker here. Our team made it, sorry for a bit of marketing. We also use Redmine which is a perfect bug tracker you can use for free, Figma and Zeplin.

My main experience was that the value of failing is overestimated and succeeding is a much more valuable experience.

Great that motivation comes naturally in your team. I noticed however, that although the level of motivation and engagement can be quite high, there are some tasks people try to escape. At Trackabi.com we have just added gamification of time tracking. So, I wonder what other projects offer and if any one does 'offline' gamification.
Have you ever tried the gamification approach with your team?

Have you ever tried the gamification approach with your team?
Have you ever tried gamification of any treadmill tasks at work? Did it work? Was it just fun or there were improvements in productivity or quality?
Would you like to try it, if you didn't do it before?

Project management for the sake of project management. Do you do that?
I think some people are often too much into project management. Recently I worked on two blog posts about project management methodologies and their application. There are dozens of approaches. Many of them impose rules that are unreasonably complicated for most real-live projects in IT. I also joined a few PM groups on Facebook, and there is a lot of buzz about Scrum, PMBOK, and even Six-Sigma...

I think a lot depends on your idea. If it's absolutely unique like you've created a new type of neural network for object recognition that performs times better than any existing analogs, you shouldn't worry about bugs in your UI at the start. Users will forgive. On the other hand, if you are building a new project management tool it should look very well and complete.
Also, you can make it...

From a business perspective, there are pros and cons. If you have engaging side projects with new technologies, it is always useful to learn something new. An amusing tricky side project can prevent your team from burning out as well. On the other hand, you should be careful and make sure none of the side projects delay your main projects from key clients.
Are side projects good or bad when you already own a business?
