+1 to engage and don't just engage for the sake of launching. It gets annoying when makers self-promote their product in every reply they post and sometimes that backfires. Take a bit time out of your day and give back to the community.

Time & prioritization - building anything good is time consuming so ultimately it is a question of whether or not you want to put in the time and effort.

Do you know who are your target users and where do they hang out? Try to find channels where they are active and buid your audience there, whether via paid or free. You can use content and community marketing to build audience yourself or leverage influencers always active in those channels to scale your approach

This will also depends on the size of your product & how much funding you have. If you are just starting out - founder personal branding is a cost effective way to manage this. You can also do cold outreach - this is definitely one channels proven to work. But it takes time for you to figure out a working system too.

How did you build a community for your user?
For any products that are running user communities (on slack, discord, etc) - would love to hear your experience building this out! Where did you build the entry point for your users to join? What type of mechanism do you have in place for your community to stay active? We are building out our beta user community, and would love to hear all the pitfalls and best practices!

We've tried cold DMs before - take a while to get enough responses to start building out enough data but still worthwhile. Another shortcut would be to find your online community and just be active there and contribute till you build enough relationships. Then it'll get a lot easier for people to talk to you.
