Is "Follow Your Passion" bad advice?
Paul Graham, founder of Y Combinator, reveals when to ignore it, and when to chase it relentlessly. 👇
"Passion alone isn’t a magic formula. "
Balancing passion with practicality isn’t black and white. Sometimes following your passion makes sense; other times, it doesn’t. The key is understanding when to pursue it and when to prioritize stability.
"If you love it and it pays, you’re in luck....

Congrats on the launch, and well done on bringing Buzzabout to life! 🚀 Audience research can often be time-consuming and imprecise, so having a tool that quickly gathers real-time insights from social media discussions is a huge advantage for marketers. I helped couple of companies to start from the scratch, with a very minimal budget. Usually, when you just started, and do not know whether the strategy will work, you need to start with a small budget but show some results early on.
So I recommend to focus on one ICP, with one product offer, for one marketing channel.
Get first feedback -> make updates if needed -> get first results...

Failure and setbacks - they're part of the deal. You don’t handle them - you use them. Every failure is a lesson disguised as a punch to the gut. The only difference between winners and losers is how they react when they get knocked down. Adapt, learn, and keep going.

Not every startup should be funded. It depends on the potential scale, and the complexity of the project. Try to bootstrap Mars colonization or neuro-brain-chip implantation.
Moreover, if we take 2 similar projects for the same ICP, one is bootstrapped and another one is VC funded, which one has more chances to succeed?
Bootstrapped or VC-funded and why?

Congrats on the launch, Alex! It’s clear you’ve built something that addresses a huge pain point for small and mid-sized sales teams - predictability and data-backed decision-making are so critical for growth. I also like that you’re making accurate sales planning more accessible for teams without overwhelming them with complexity.

Hi team, I like the unique touches like the Sunflower widget and mood-tracking calendar - simple but effective ways to build positive habits and reflect on progress.
One question - how does Sunrise evolve with users over time? Are the journal prompts or feedback personalized based on someone’s mood history or previous entries?

Finally we are going back to normal. Working from home is not normal. Home is the place for family and rest. If you are alone and you do not have family - maybe it’s ok. But it is proven that if you work often in your bed - the quality of your sleep is not so good. The same with work at home - deep in your brain you associate the stress of work with your home. And suddenly you realize that you...

Building something from the ground up, pushing beyond limits, and watching it grow - that’s where I find meaning. It’s not about passion or waiting for some magical "purpose" to appear. It’s about creating it. Every day, you show up, you build, you grind. That’s purpose.
So yeah, my work doesn’t just give me purpose - it’s the reason I get up and go hard.

Work-life balance is a fairy tale for people who aren’t serious. You want balance, go get a yoga mat. You want success? Embrace the imbalance.
Here’s how I see it: when you're building something great, there’s no 50/50. It’s all-in or don’t bother. Family and friends will understand if they’re on the same page. If not, they'll complain - and that's fine. But success doesn’t wait for balance;...

You don’t balance it - you dominate both. Long-term vision is the destination, short-term results are the fuel that gets you there. If you're not hitting short-term goals, your long-term vision is a fantasy.
Here’s the deal: you need to be ruthless with execution. Crush the daily, weekly, monthly targets. That’s what gives you momentum. But never lose sight of where you're headed. Every...

The right customer research should solve this problem. Do not listen what customers say, watch what do they do and what they are struggle with. Remember famous Ford saying: If I ask my customers what do they want, they would tell a faster horse.
