VPNs are not as secure as we think. Be careful using passwords and other identifiable information through companies that may not have the same security interests as you do.
I want my VPN connection to be seamless and transparent — connect automatically, stay connected, and get out of the way. With TunnelBear, despite the fun bear-themed UI, I spent way too much time fumbling with connection issues across Mac and iPhone, and several apps on iPhone (including Nest) couldn't connect when TunnelBear was enabled. Confusingly, some features of the app worked normally, and others (streaming) didn't work at all. I was told by the support team that this was likely due to a port incompatibility issue, and... that's pretty much where the support ended. I asked for a refund after a few months — I had paid a year in advance, which they didn't pro-rate, but kept the monthly billing rate and refunded the rest — and I switched to a competitor.
Great product if you're looking to bypass filters or want to casually mask your browsing from Wifi networks. Don't use it for serious security though.
