Big fan of CloudApp. Been using the tiny menu bar app for a while to create and share GIFs. The new Visual Search feature is interesting, although I'm not sure it will fit into my workflow. I never refer to images/GIFs created in the past.

After evaluating my options, I've settled with Droplr as my default image sharing / screen casting tool for work. How does this release change things?
Scott Smith
@praval Biggest differences here are that if you are a free user with CloudApp you can now create unlimited screenshots, recordings, GIFs, etc that don't have an expiration date. We've also made our screenshot and GIF annotation tool free to any level of user.
Gabriel Braun
@praval @scott_smith Can you add related notes or annotate screens directly?

This is how CloudApp's Visual Search looks like:

Great update to an essential design and productivity collaboration tool. CloudApp 4 includes Visual Search which allows you to search for information contained within any image or screenshot (by text, object, color, logo) along with CloudApp Analytics.

@chrismessina not to mention unlimited uploads now on the free plan. Something that kept me on JumpShare. I don't care much about visual search
Samujjal Purkayastha
Just reinstalled Cloudapp after a short stint with Jumpshare, mainly because of the number of upload restrictions that I was brought sometime ago. Glad to see that go. Another thing that's still making me consider switching back to Jumpshare is the atrocious iOS app. It's been almost a year since that got updated.

Cloudapp is awesome. Love the work the team is doing. It's a tough market and I'm glad to see they try to differentiate themselves and continue to work on figuring out their sweet spot with some of these new 4.0 features. New site looks fresh too!

Giving this a try, especially with the unlimited space for free users

Fyi, Windows blocked the install as a risk to my computer. I had to choose 'run anyway'. No problem for me, but that will stop a lot of people in their tracks!
Tyler Koblasa
@craigfifield Craig, our engineering team just updated us that there was a fix for Windows pushed within the hour. Feel free to give the updated download a spin now and let us know if you're still having trouble.

This app has changed my life. Seriously dominates droplr, quicker than Dropbox (although Dropbox is still on my toolbelt).

Anyone knows how to share it directly to slack? Is there a native integration?
Daniel Fischer
@john_tans We support direct unfurling so after you upload through the app it'll automatically copy to your clipboard and you can paste it into Slack and it'll unfurl properly. If you'd like a deeper integration with Slack on a specific workflow please reach out to me daniel@cl.ly and I'll see what we can do for you.

Big big big fan of CloudApp too @rrhoover! I using everyday to share my screenshot.
TLDR
I used this a while ago when it was first featured on Product Hunt, but stopped because the free plan was too limiting. I'm glad I randomly revisited it because the free plan is now much better-- so it's my standard screenshot tool once again!

Every screenshot is appearing at least twice in CloudApp. I guess it is because my desktop is syncing via iCloud and therefore the various CloudApp installations on my different machines are uploading the same image. Doesn't seem to work that well with the new Sierra.

@chrismessina Excellent Hunt! I'm really happy to see v4 released. I've been a paying CloudApp customer since the beginning, whether that was beta or v1. I've referred so many people, showing folks that to truly communicate effectively when you're always chatting/working remotely, showing screenshots, gifs and movies to help get your point across makes a whole world of difference! However... and I really, sincerely wish there didn't have to be a "however"... Since moving from a Rain personal account to a Pro (I think?) Team account a few months ago, it's been nothing but endless confusion and frustration. My CloudApp (the web app) tells me I have a personal Rain account. It also tells me I have a Rain Annual Team account. And yet it also says I have a Business account. When I click on the OS X Menu Bar CloudApp's Preference dropdown, it says "Upgrade to Pro." When I look at Preferences, it clearly shows that I have "Plan: Rain" but at the bottom of the window it says I have a Pro account. As you can imagine, I'm entirely confused about what I actually have, what I actually pay for, or if I should even upgrade. I mean, each option in Preferences says that I should Upgrade to it, including Rain... even though it says I have the Rain account. But I think above all, what's bothered me the most was recently onboarding an employee, living through his frustration along with him. I've talked up CloudApp to everyone I thought would want to hear about it since... I dunno... 2010/2011? So when my new employee came on and I invited him via My CloudApp, after not receiving an invite, then CloudApp telling him he wasn't part of our Team, but yet he still saw all of us and still couldn't log in to the app, his negative responses about CloudApp really struck a nerve. I hate praising a company or product only to find out later that the person I referred had a really negative experience at absolutely no fault of their own. That's a bad feeling to have. Not sure what @tylerkoblasa might have to say, or what feedback he could provide, but this happening with my employee really hammered a nail into the coffin, and it's really unfortunate.

@lee_peterson Lee, first of all, sorry about the account confusion. That sounds frustrating. I can definitely step in here and help out. Also thanks for sticking with us for the last half a decade, we wouldn’t be here without customers like you! A couple quick explanations: We just rebranded teams from “Rain” accounts to “Business” accounts. Also, we’ve considered all paid accounts to be “Pro” accounts. We’ll look at how we can make this more clear in the future. With the other issues you’ve brought up, I’m told our support team is about to jump on a call with you. We recently completed an exhaustive UX audit of our on-boarding experience and we’re making the changes as quick as we can. Dozens of changes were released today in fact! Your feedback is super helpful in this endeavor. While it’s been frustrating for you, please know that we’re listening, we’re taking action, and your feedback will help us create a better CloudApp experience for others as we implement these improvements. We’re here for you. Thanks Lee!

@tylerkoblasa Hi Tyler. Thanks so much for responding. Julie and Piotr actually reached out to me pretty quickly to discuss the issues I've been having. Apparently, I inadvertently triggered a bug which caused all sorts of confusion for everyone. Julie's also looking into how I renamed a drop of mine to my.cl.ly/blog a few years ago. According to her (as well as Desmond a few months ago) that isn't possible, and yet I did it? We're good now, though. Sorry for venting... It's just frustrating when you enjoy a product AND the company behind it so much for so long, and one day things begin going wrong and continue to go wrong repeatedly without any reliable answers. I'm not going anywhere, though :) Thanks again, and congratulations on v4!! It's a huge step ahead of v3. I'm loving the Menu Bar App UI. Take care.

I've started using Cloud app and it's great for screenshot management especially if you're a tester and you include lots of shots in your report :D

Pros:

Cons:

mobile applications are not too bright, on android i can't login and on ios i can't sync my files
