Anyone who just started using ZenDesk and thinks it's "great" should talk to anyone who's been stuck using ZenDesk "because it was already there" when they started. There are plenty of better options (Drift, Intercom, etc.) that I highly recommend you use instead. ZenDesk is antiquated software and not recommended for startups. Other software also integrates much better with Zapier making it possible for you to automate as many of your processes as possible. ZenDesk is built to try to force you to do everything in their ecosystem.

It was easy to get started using Zendesk, good templates to kick off with. Unfortunately the template system is very lacking and adding icons to your categories is done by tedious repetition of "if" loops against category ids in curlybars. Not very tech-friendly as you cannot use code blocks in the resource center. I submitted a vote on a 3 year old ticket in their system for this request, 6 months ago. Nothing new on that front as of today. The startup code we had also got bounced off our account multiple times causing our helpdesk on a custom URL to go down. It was then only accessible from the customer dot zendesk URL. I would perhaps have recommended Zendesk if we had not been a tech startup with the needs for customisation.

Submitted the form few weeks ago, haven't heard back since, no option to use the code ZHUNT18 either. Signed up directly on the website to see if I could use the code 'ZHUNT18' but there was no option. Tried calling customer service and no response.

I am a loyal customer for several months starting my own business. I upgraded my subscriptions to use SMS but it wasn’t as intuitive and the different features of Zendesk didn’t work / integrate as I expected. I didn’t use any of the upgraded features and when I requested to downgrade and refund I was dismissed and charged for 2nd month without authorisation. Still waiting for them to downgrade my account accordingly and refund extra payments. They say they do not do any refunds and need 30 days notice to downgrade but that is hidden in their ts and cs - which is a highly unusual thing to enforce in the first place not to mention unfair and unreasonable in my case. Hopefully they change their dismissive and unfair attitude towards small businesses/new businesses especially in this climate.

Love Zendesk, I've developed a few themes and built in Zendesk to clients CX strategies. The biggest BIGGEST reason why I can't go back to Zendesk is the support team / account / sales teams are super slow at getting back to you whilst in trial mode. But the main reason is there's no developer/partner mode, it's impossible to demo this to clients without signing a 12 month contract. We both lost out on a big account because of this.
