@rrhoover @anthonyha very cool! Youtube is basically generating demand for their paid advertising.. very smart.

@rrhoover @anthonyha Realllly Interesting !! The way YouTube makes video creation easier is a great thing for everyone, and in this case for businesses. Look forward to try it on Android.

@rodrigoreis22 @rrhoover @anthonyha at least if your in america. .. dislike it when apps come out not for your region, what is this DVD all over again?! :)
Hope Atina
@rrhoover @anthonyha you know it's a good video when you get that warm fuzzy feeling at the end.
Jay Chang
@rrhoover @anthonyha Interesting they started with iOS (though could understand why) given it's a google product haha

Only on the iPhone? Whaaaaat??
Brandon Giesing
"The YouTube Director app is currently only available for iPhone in the US and Canada. Coming soon to Android." Damn it Google!!! *shakes fist*
Markus Hemm
@bgiesing39 Does anyone know when it will be released for Germany? *shakes both fists*

This is a really smart move. Removes the friction and fear from creating ads for regular people.

This actually really makes sense. Smart way to lure smaller businesses into advertising on YouTube. But not only that, it also helps brands make more personal ads, it seems. Something videos ads could use, in my opinion. Overall, seems nice :)

Nice. Is it iOS-only? That would make it 3 for 3 now #Google.

Commoditizing directors now?! I'd be curious to see how they evolve the storytelling process and templates as more businesses start using them.

Only on iPhone? I'm losing faith in google :( here we are buying Android phones backed by google, seeing google release apps exclusive to iPhone (or at least available on iPhone first). First G Board, now this? Really disappointing seeing as apple rarely release android compatible services.

Only iPhone? wtf... okay, I'll wait... looks quick and easy
Niv Dror
So now we're gonna see a lot more 30 second video ads, from anyone 🎉🎉
Demetri Nerris
Nice! I can see this be great for kickstarter videos too

I work with people on videos for their business all day long. This is a cool app that I think will help small business owners think about story structure and types of BRoll to record. But many of the templates are misleading in terms of amateurs filming video. They definitely consulted pros that were properly lighting for color temperatures and perhaps using some different lenses for varying depths of field. The iPhone can get great results but you have to work with it like any camera. Very intuitive controls though and a good business move, obviously. But it's not putting pros out of business quite yet. I thinks it's a great intro to what video can do for your business. Owners could open up their budgets to high quality video content.

Ummm wait. This is only available on iOS? Isn't Youtube and Alphabet company? What happened to Android in this rollout?

Wow. Looks cool.

This is awesome

Really looks nice! And yet another Google products released first for iPhones... It's not just we mortal devs that struggle with Android performance, eh? Still it looks very promising.

I know this is super petty but it annoys me SO MUCH: Google needs to get their crap together and release for Android first. I'm sick of this.
Davy Wong
Really awesome that they not only provide a straight-forward, easy-to-use tool, but also an equally important intuitive content workflow to guide beginners through the creation process. Those 2 things are necessary to get user adoption to skyrocket. Any ETA on the Android app?
Rahul Mantri
See myself using the heck out of this! Thank you Robleh for sharing!
