Hello hunters! I am Romain, creator of Yet Another Mail Merge (YAMM). Thanks Kevin for hunting YAMM! I started YAMM as a simple script to share with other developers and it grew into the most installed Google Add-on for mail merge and email campaigns. I am excited to offer a special deal for the ProductHunters & I will be keen to answer any questions that you might have for me. Special deal for ProductHunters! @cakeresume @trantorliu Great to hear that! We have more than 100 000 active users every month and I'm really glad to see some people use it every day.

I set it up within minutes. The google sheets integration is smooth. Sent out campaign to 300+ in one day with personalization and scheduling. The feature set is pretty expansive. Looking forward to use the Saleforce integration. If it works well, that would be epic! Very straightforward to use and measure success

Meanwhile I think an onboarding guide will really help after setting up the account. Somehow I missed it and had to spend a bit of time to understand how to setup my first campaign.

Pros:

1. Simple yet powerful features. The essential features for a mass email campaign are all there.

2. Seamless integration with Google Sheets

Cons:

There is no simple guide when onboarding

Romain Vialard
True, even if YAMM is loved for its simplicity, we could provide more ressources to new users to help them get started. At the end of last year, we rebuilt our documentation and a 'Send your first campaign with YAMM' guide is available there: https://support.yet-another-mail... We also have the same guide available as a video tutorial since a few months:
And both ressources are shared in the "Welcome email" we send to new users. In addition to that we plan to: - detect when it's the first time someone is using YAMM and offer a step-by-step tutorial in the app directly. - advise users who visit our documentation for the first time to check the guide and some other useful ressources before anything else

Great product @romain_vialard1 ! Pros: Very easy integration with Google Sheets and Gmail. Cons: Minor glitches when filtering rows to send emails. I have been a long-time user of YAMM and love it!
Romain Vialard
@nikhilsamuel Thank you. We do try to make the best integration possible using all the APIs Google is providing. When Google offered the ability to play with filtered rows in Google Sheets we did our best to leverage that and provide useful new features to our users. What issues did you had with filtered rows? Maybe we can improve our current implementation. If better, don't hesitate to continue the discussion in private and email us at support@yet-another-mail-merge.com
Nikhil Samuel
@yet @romain_vialard1 When I send a test email with rows filtered, the email I get it to emails that are not in the filtered list so it's a bit confusing.
Romain Vialard
@yet @nikhilsamuel Ah that's right, currently we always use the second row of the sheet as the test row, without taking filters into account. And you are right, it can be confusing, we will fix that.
Romain Vialard
@nikhilsamuel now the test row is the first in the filtered list (instead of always the second row -not taking filters into account). Can you check if it's working as expected for you?

I've been using YAMM for over a year now. I've used it for investor / stakeholder updates, team updates, etc. In terms of efficiency, I save a boatload of time and can keep track of who is getting my messages.

It's the best of it's class.

Pros:

It's a life saver. I personalize all of my emails and have a huge conversion rate

Cons:

Cons? None.

Romain Vialard
Thanks for sharing your use cases!!!

I've mostly used YAMM for quick updates to people I've previously corresponded with. Though I have the option to insert their names into the emails all fancy-like, I usually err on the side of caution and write universal email drafts for everyone I'm sending to. Great app!

Pros:

An easy way to email people quick updates that usually hit an inbox instead of a promotions box.

Cons:

Takes a little getting used to when onboarding (as with any tech product)

Romain Vialard
Thank you! We are improving our documentation constantly and your feedback helps.

Used YAMM on and off for a few years now when a more personalised mail merge approach is required. Have used it on mailouts to several thousand people eg. for invites (all optin in case you were wondering).

The mail merging is great, the integration between sheets and Gmail is pretty straightforward and once you get into some of the dynamic stuff sheets can do, there's all sorts of ways of using it: custom links, attachments, event custom pre-filled forms.

It's pretty quick, too, even for sends with hundreds of email addresses. Downside is that you can get yourself in to trouble if you're not careful about making sure you're OK to send to those emails, especially when new stricter data protection rules are coming in across Europe and California. Make sure you've got permission to send and respect opt-outs!

Only niggle is that if I want to send multiple campaigns from the same spreadsheet, YAMM sometimes can't find the email addresses, even when following the instructions, but there's ways round this (duplicating the sheet), however it's sometimes useful to keep all the YAMM campaigns on a single sheet with different columns for each email sent.

Use YAMM for personal touch.

Use others eg. Mailchimp, etc for bulk emails.

In summary, excellent product, good support, well worth it.

Pros:

Flexible, simple to use with tools I know already, cheap to use, great support

Cons:

Bit fiddly with spreadsheet filters, managing unsubs / bounces is a manual process

Romain Vialard
Thanks for the positive review. It will greatly help, if you could send us at support@yet-another-mail-merge.com your specific queries about spreadsheet filters and your suggestion on what could be improved with unsubscribes/bounces.

@romain_vialard1 YAMM was always so useful for me doing biz dev in startups I worked at - thanks for making such a time-saving product 🙌🏾
Romain Vialard
@abadesi Thank you! In how many startups did you use it ? :)
Halyna Divakova
Awesome! Can't wait to give it a try!
Romain Vialard
@kengu_rut please try, do you already know where YAMM could help you?
Halyna Divakova
@romain_vialard1 Yes, doing exactly what it offers.

This is one of the best products from simplicity perspective

Pros:

Robust Simple Intuitive Useful

Cons:

Feature Request - Stagger Delivery Automatically Across Days

Romain Vialard
I'm not 100% sure it will answer your need but we do have a scheduling feature and if you have a big list of recipients, you can set the number of emails to deliver per day (using the "leave some quota" option). https://support.yet-another-mail...

So easy to send personalized emails! I love this add-on and have been using it with my gmail and google drive for years.

Pros:

Works quickly and efficiently, very useful to send fundraising emails with info to donors about previous year campaigns

Cons:

AtlantaDaybook

YAMM is an excellent helper-app!

Pros:

So easy to use. And the post-send data/reporting is excellent!

Cons:

There is no better alternative I've found, that is as easy to use with this level of baseline reporting at the same time.

Stephanie Heacox

Easy to set up, easy to use, and has a nice simple reporting feature. Not flashy, but I don't need or want flashy. I want to do thousands of mailings for my non-profit at a minimal cost, and this add on does that very well. Couldn't be happier.

Pros:

Does exactly what it says it will do for a remarkable price.

Cons:

It would be nice to save defaults like return email.

Romain Vialard
Ah indeed we aren't saving yet the chosen reply-to address as default. We are already saving the draft / template you used last in the same sheet as well as the email alias, if you are using any. We will add the reply-to address to the list. Note that at the moment, to avoid errors, defaults are linked to a specific spreadsheet so if you run a new campaign from a new spreadsheet you'll have to select again your template and alias + reply-to address - if you are using those options.
John Greene

Fantastic. I love using YAMM for event and conference RSVP info and follow-ups when speaking with large groups of people. Solid tracking.

Pros:

Easy to use. Allows for great customization. Simple. Simple. Simple.

Cons:

None: Love the simplicity.

Romain Vialard
Thank you for your positive comments.

When I was looking options for mail merge from gmail, I found this on the Chrome extension store. Had tried out multiple other tools before I used this. And after using this tool, I am not looking for any alternative.

Pros:

Easy to setup & use

Cons:

Need option to send more emails per day

Romain Vialard
If you want to send more emails, best is to convert to a paid plan. You can check the quota limits of free & paid plans here. https://support.yet-another-mail...
Ryan Rodenbaugh
I used to work somewhere where they were too cheap to buy some sort of bulk mailing platform and the old intern used to send e-mails by hand. I shared YAMM with some friends and got up to 100ish emails/day. I became the office rock star. I 10/10 recommend to anyone who needs to send bulk emails often. Thanks for an awesome (and inexpensive) product.
Farhan Ali

If someone opens an attachment, does YAMM treat it as a Click?

Pros:

It's a boon for companies just starting out. I've used it for all my email marketing campaigns. It's a must have.

Cons:

Can't think of one.

Romain Vialard
Sorry no. We can only count a click when your recipient leaves his email inbox to visit another web page. As attachments are directly attached to the email, the user don't have to leave and we can't track what he does in his inbox. If you do need to track that, best might be to store your attachment on Google Drive, Dropbox or somewhere else and simply add a link to the file in your email, rather than a real attachment. This way, we will be able to track when the user leaves his mailbox to visit your file on Drive, Dropbox or wherever you put it.
Manjunath M Gowda

my subscription allows 1500 per day but I dont want to send so many but less than 500 even though the list is say 5000 and there is no easy way to do it

Pros:

Cool - love it

Cons:

None but if you can improve, an easy way to set a lower limit to send

Romain Vialard
If you want to send a bunch of emails every day until you reach the end of your list, best is to use our scheduling feature rather than manually sending a small batch every day. And actually, we do have an option to leave some quota when you set up a scheduled merge - so you can totally ask YAMM to send only 500 emails every day: https://support.yet-another-mail... Does that answer your need?
Andrey Azimov
Great tool! I'm using it for a couple of month. Thanks you for making it!

This is fantastic tool for email campaigning
Monique Hills

copy & paste the info over and the emails are successfully sent. The issue doesn't happen often just once in a while.

Pros:

Seamless integration with Google Sheets & Gmail

Cons:

Sometimes the Send Report gives an Error for a select few rows but there is any conflicting data, so I create a new tab...

Romain Vialard
Yeah it does not happen a lot but sometimes Google APIs are sending too many errors and the best is to stop & retry. Also as YAMM is directly working on the Google Sheets and users can do whatever they want in a spreadsheet, data can easily be messed up (often due to wrong copy/past) - we do our best to fix most common issues but sometimes it's better to start fresh in a new tab / spreadsheet.
