Didn’t this already exist? What is different about it, other than the BIPOC subdirectories?
@pocketfreud the first iteration was 6 years ago as a plain text list - now you can filter the companies by many different slices of data, see which companies are hiring, we've also added founder bios as a feature. We'll be adding employee reviews, media content and much more! This is just the beginning.
Hello, hello! Lindsay here from YC — representing a small part of the team that launched the YC Directory and new directory sections that highlight Black, Latinx, and women founders in the YC community.
The directory makes it simple to filter 2,000+ YC companies by batch, industry, status, region, and company size. We hope this tool helps job seekers find their next role, and investors + partners find and contact companies that they want to work with.
The three new directory sections highlight Black, Latinx, and women founders, and we share new data, including the combined valuation and total amount raised. We hope these pages becomes a resource for investors and customers — and for prospective founders who are looking for inspiring leaders, here is a way to discover successful founders who may have had experiences that reflect your own.

@francoolaami Yes, this is the official YC directory; with every new batch, founders will be able to opt into the directory and "launch" as a YC company.
@lindsay_wiese_amos Great initiative! I believe this will be very useful for the companies themselves and for individuals looking to engage with a particular type of company within the YC network. Wonderful job YC!

wow I can't believe there's only 1 Australian company who ever made it into YC 😨... I'll be applying for W2021, hoping to become the second!
@shooting_unicorns I think a few startups like Earth AI and InsideSherpa are Australian too but ended setting up in cal.

@shooting_unicorns Anubhav is correct! Hopefully we can get more updated data from founders so you can start seeing which founders are from where and not just where their company is located :)
Thank you very much for making such a helpful service. It is really very convenient to find employees or new exciting offers for yourself on such sites. I knew the position of director in one cleaning company. I was faced with the fact that our company went bankrupt, and I was filed misfesance claims. So, I started looking for ways to get out of the situation, not lose my job, and not ruin my reputation as a leader. But unfortunately, the founders of the company decided to close it, and I found myself in a desperate situation. So now I'm looking for a new job.
