Moooorning Product Hunt, Johan here!
Ever tried recording your video podcast with Zoom? Not the best experience, right? While it's possible, the tool is not built for that and the quality can get awful. We are building Welder to be the perfect toolkit for podcasters.
π₯ Why record a video podcast?
To engage your audience on a deeper level
To create 10-15 extra pieces of content per episode and better promote your show
To explore new distribution channels (such as YouTube... I heard it's quite big)
β So why Welder over Zoom?
π» Local recording (up to 4K video, .wav audio)
The recordings are done on each participant's computer instead of over the internet. You get source quality files and are not limited by internet connection.
π Separate video & audio tracks from each participant
Super handy for post-production as you can work with separate video & audio from each participant. Having everything merged into one file is a nightmare.
π Transcription (.srt & .txt)
Full transcript gives you an option to repurpose your interview for your blog or to highlight interesting bits for your microcontent.
π° Simplicity
Other tools have way too much stuff going on. We want Welder to be as simple as possible for podcasters and their (non-techy) guests.
π‘ Reliability
Losing an important interview sucks. We tackle that with backup recordings on our servers and responsive support.
Let us know what you think! I'm keeping this tab open to answer any of your questions! π§‘
Johan & the Welder team
When I started making the Indie Bites podcast remotely, I needed a software that would give me high-quality recordings, reliably, and something that was easy for my guests to use.
Zoom wasn't quite cutting it as if anyone had a poor internet connection I'd end up with an unusable recording, which was frustrating for everyone.
Along came Welder, with their local recording that allows me to record without ever worrying about anyone's internet connection. It also comes with some handy features like Transcriptions and Timestamps.
I've been impressed with the whole Welder team at how quick they've been to ship new features and to listen to customer feedback, so much so I wanted to be part of it! Give Welder a go and let us know what you think π
@ragnar_heil Love this, Ragnar! That accuracy is impressive, it won't always be 100 especially if the interview is super long but at least there might sometimes be some funny fuck ups.
