Congrats on the US launch! I've been a Wealthfront customer for a little while and hold a traditional IRA and taxable account with them. What might be reasons to switch?
@brianmwang thank you Brian! that's great, starting to invest early is always better than not at all. I wouldn't compare us directly to your current platform, because Wealthsimple provides more of a hands-on, personalized service to intelligently manage your money. we have expert financial advisors that you can speak with at a moment's notice. our team can help you plan your important wealth milestones, and answer your questions on-demand. maybe you're buying a new house or planning a family — we're here to support and advise on issues like taxes. relative to similar advisory services, we charge about half the cost for award-winning service.
some examples of the human, personalized approach that sets us apart: If you're able to invest more than $100,000 with Wealthsimple, then you’re eligible for our brand new tier of service: Wealthsimple Black. And if you care about the impact your investments make on the world, we offer options for Socially Responsible Investing: https://www.wealthsimple.com/en-...
@ajaymehta Love the offering of human advisors! VIP lounge access is pretty sweet too ;) I'm sure you already know this, but Betterment is introducing human advisors as well, though the threshold for unlimited consultations is $250k. And I don't think they offer VIP lounge access yet :D
Congratulations on the launch, team! Happy Wealthsimple customer right here!
Curious to learn what's new in the US product (compared to the Canadian account) and how you went about creating it.
@darynakulya thank you for the kind words, and very glad to hear you're happy with our Canadian service!
along with now being available to clients in all 50 US states, we have also launched support for America-specific tax-sheltered savings accounts: IRAs and Roth IRAs. recently, we've also debuted a new premium service called Wealthsimple Black for clients that have more than $100k invested with us (the airport lounges are my favorite part). here's more info in a blog post from this morning: https://www.wealthsimple.com/en-...
Great design, great onboarding experience, excellent customer support. Perfect for pretty anyone with some money to invest. Been using Wealthsimple for a while now in Canada and very excited by their USA launch. There certainly are a lot more companies in a similar space here, but then again, there's a lot of money and American banking accounts have abysmally low interest rates.

@leozakour unfortunately, not yet, but we would love to support Germany! please sign up and you can join the "wait list" for Germany — we will notify you as soon as there's more news to share.
@alexadelman thank you, Alex! one of our goals is to streamline the process of creating an investment account (like a Roth IRA) as much as humanly possible. the faster you can create an account, the sooner you can start investing. and we don't like paperwork :)
@misbahspeaks thank you Misbah! I initially responded thinking you meant Seattle, but on second look you might mean Southeast Asia? so sorry about that. we'd love to get there someday, but right now we have a "waiting list" on the site with no immediate plans. please sign up with your desired country, and we will notify you if it's on the horizon!
I've been using Wealthsimple for almost a year and have loved every bit of it. Great app that gives you the information that you care about right up front. It really makes investing both easy to do and understand.

Hey everyone! Today’s a big day for us! After spending the past couple years refining our simple, low-cost approach to smart investing, we’re ready to bring our service to Americans in all 50 states. We’ve earned the trust of more than 20,000 clients with $750 million in assets in Canada, and won the 2016 Webby award for Best Financial Services website. Here’s some more context in a blog post I wrote up this morning: https://www.wealthsimple.com/en-...
If you live in the US, please check out the website and comment below or email us with any thoughts or feedback you might have. Very much looking forward to hearing it!
@bvirlet@mkatchen currently we have no immediate plans, but we'd love to get to France. if you sign up and note that you're based in France, we'll save you to a waiting list and notify you as soon as more information is available.
@andrew_harlow hi Andrew! thanks for the question. great you are investing. I included some answers to Brian Wang below, so don't want to repeat myself too much if you want to read that response. but the short answer is that we provide high-touch, personalized service with access expert financial advisors. that customer experience is why we won the 2016 Webby for "Best Financial Services website," and leads us to offer things like Wealthsimple Black and options for Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) portfolios.
with respect to your current platform, I wouldn't compare us to the baseline offering but would instead compare to "premium." except with Wealthsimple, there are no account minimums to get started and management fees are 0.4% for clients with over $100k invested.
Hi. Just signed up. Looking forward to the service. Quick question: Why must I call a relationship manager and/or send an email to simply make a withdrawal (not even mentioning the requirement to call the relationship manager to close the account)? Please advise. Thank you!
Love WealthSimple, been using it for a year and have saved a bunch of $ in fees. The app is great, the support team is amazing. If you want to get started and get $10,000 managed for free (instead of their regular $5,000) use this link: http://wsim.co/f1ayfwx (full discolsure: I will also get $5k managed free) WIn/Win/Win
