This is one of the coolest alarm clocks / workout apps I've seen! That's coming from someone who's made an alarm clock app and several fitness apps :) Instant download. Congrats on the launch Pedro πŸ’ͺ

@robjama This means a lot! Big fan of your work!

I love this idea. Reminds me a bit of 5 minute flow: http://maxshank.com/change-your-... Doing some full range of motion in the morning is GREAT for you. I do something similar everyday. The point of it isn't to be a "workout", but to get joints/muscles moving and ready for the day. I'd suggest adjusting the messaging here. Calling it a "workout in bed" makes it sound a bit too serious (which is why I'm guessing so many people are commenting about safety). I'd position it as a way to help you wake up / move / feel better throughout the day. No one's getting abs doing a 3 min workout by their bed. But they certainly can get blood flowing and improve range of motion.

@mscccc Brilliant contribution, thank you Mike!

Great work guys love the new app!
Pedro Wunderlich
@nchafni Thanks Nezare!
Allen Wang
I will try out tomorrow morning. BTW it's really a slick idea.
Pedro Wunderlich
@creativewang Awesome! Can't wait for your feedback. Thanks for the ❀️

Thanks for the hunt @robjama! Wakeout is the result of feedback we got from our readers of a newsletter we send called Power Mornings. In each of the 13 issues so far, we included a little home workout routine you do in bed or by the bedside to help you wake up. It was what our readers enjoyed the most out of the newsletter, so we decided to turn it into an app! πŸ› We designed 78 "Wakeouts" that you do drowsy, in the comfort of your bed, in your pajamas. Simple movements to help you wake up. πŸƒ A wakeout routine is randomly generated and consists of three exercises. It takes less than three minutes, but it'll get your blood pumping. Pro subscribers can chose to keep going for as many exercises as their body can handle. ⚑️ You can either set the alarm to wake out as soon as you wake up, or hit the "Wakeout Now!" button and it'll generate a new routine on the fly. We're here all day, reading every comment. This project came out of feedback, and it'll get improved and polished with feedback. Please tell us all your concerns, ideas and issues. Have a powerful week, ⚑️🐻

@pddro interested in the 'Power Mornings' newsletter - where can I subscribe? thanks!
Pedro Wunderlich
@iankibble Thanks! You can sub here (and btw, we've moved to a monthly format, website not yet updated): http://powermornings.co

From a product standpoint, I love the sound design and onboarding! Nice follow-up to TinyPop!

Can you create a workout regiment that integrates eating potato chips w/ frito Lay french onion dip?
Pedro Wunderlich
@wuss πŸ˜‚ That's the next app: EatOut. French onion as an in-app purchase.

Sorry but I cannot see how this is safe for areas such as your lower back or your wrists for that matter. Never mind you can take 2 seconds to get out of bed and do this on the floor
Olga Annenko
Great idea, but I guess only for those who sleep alone :-D If I decided one morning to "wake out", my husband would just throw me off the bed, at the latest when I'd do the bed climbers...
Pedro Wunderlich
@o_annenko πŸ™ˆ Thanks! I do these with my gf. Pretty fun to do as a couple. If your hubb throws you off the bed, that's one way to wake up quickly? πŸ€“
LyondhΓΌr Picciarelli
Why not the floor?
Pedro Wunderlich
@lyondhur If you really really want to, all the exercises can be done on the floor. But these are chill body movements that you can do regardless of mattress firmness. The goal here isn't' getting fit, just to energize you out of bed.
Pedro Wunderlich
@lyondhur @dle41 Truer words have never been written.

In a previous life -- for about 12 years and before studying design and tech and completely changing careers for another 11 years -- I used to be a psychotherapist and teacher. I got a masters in human nutrition and food biotech, as well as a diploma in exercise prescription and some other specs for that industry. Despite trying my hardest to at least resonate with the idea (and I utterly love whacky/crazy start-ups and hustle projects), forgive me, but I think this is the silliest possible thing ever. I read all commentaries offered here and I keep thinking I'm in some sort of ProductHunt Twilight Zone.. To be perfectly honest, a lot of hunts have recently just gone plain bonkers. Why not buy a Zuckerberg Tee to match those PJs? I'm totally taking a break from PH. Best of luck fellas. Over and Out.

Things people do to skip a gym...
Pedro Wunderlich
@roman_dubinin πŸ™ˆ If anyone's getting jacked from these wakeouts, they really have not incentive to pay a $100 / mo gym membership. 😎
Roman Dubinin
@pddro speaking for myself here, but the whole point of a gym is actually getting there and having _dedicated_ time for training. The home environment is just so much distraction... But as long as it is helping people - way to go :)
Patrick Gregory Meehan
This looks horribly unsafe. You are essentially asking people to perform an exercise routine on a non-stable surface. Good luck keeping anything close to decent form.
Pedro Wunderlich
@patrick_gregory_meehan Sub par form? Make sure you wear some nice pajamas to compensate πŸ˜‰
Donna Luisa
@patrick_gregory_meehan @pddro hahaha.. could not resist trying the 'pillow-ups"..😁 actually feeling like it works
Pedro Wunderlich
@patrick_gregory_meehan @dle41 It does! It's a really fun way to wake up.
Alina Stanislavska
Will look even more fun when your spouse is trying to sleep on the other side of the bed =)
Pedro Wunderlich
@alina_karnaukh Get your spouse to do them with you! ⚑️❀️
Donna Luisa
Love it.. 😁
Pedro Wunderlich
@dle41 Thank you πŸ™β€οΈ

Any plans on making an Android app as well?
Pedro Wunderlich
@dominiquejb Absolutely!
Pedro Wunderlich
@dominiquejb @anna_0x 😣 Very sorry about that Anna. We're a small team, and our expertise is on iOS. We do have Android on our sights, but can't give you a date on this one. You can stay up to date on our dev by signing up to our newsletter though. Thank you for your interest Anna! β€”> https://www.getrevue.co/profile/...

I think the majority of the people complaining about "unsafe conditions" are just jealous they didn't come up with this brilliant idea themselves.

You don't want anyone to see you while you're waking out haha

I have a few concerns regarding a workout in bed (potential back damage for instance). Will there be warnings to people who own a very soft mattress, or equivalent routines near the bed?
Angus
@pddro I just can't see this as being in anyway safe. Saying that your models didn't report any problems while filming the video is a nonsense; have you had this properly vetted by medical and fitness professionals?
Pedro Wunderlich
@angus_halen Yes we have. Anyway, this isn't a hardcore fitness app, just body movements to get you out of bed. Not really getting the point here. Wakeouts are pretty safe and chill.
Osiris M.
@angus_halen @pddro No doctor nor professional athlete would recommend to do sit ups on a mattress. You can clearly see in the gif how the model's lumbar area is sinked and that's just a recipe for back injuries. I get that you have to sell your app but don't tell people to chill just for stating the obvious risks.
Pedro Wunderlich
@angus_halen @mellamoosiris Edited my comment for clarity, not telling anyone that offers feedback to chill πŸ™ˆ
Angus
@pddro cool, it's got no professional medical backing but "probably" fine. That will hold up in court I'm sure.
