Hello 👋 I've been working on this for a while now, so you don't know how excited I am to share with you Vrite v0.2.0 here on PH, for the first time. 🤗 The best way to describe Vrite is a "developer content platform" - something between a CMS and a knowledge base - a versatile tool to create, manage, and publish your technical content. Use it in any way that suits you: - 🧑‍💻 as a headless CMS for your technical blog - 📕 as a great WYSIWYG editor for product docs in your GitHub repo - 🪄 as an internal tool to manage, search through, and chat with all your content (with some AI magic baked-in) For some highlights: ✅ Open and versatile Vrite is open-source and built with versatility in mind. You can integrate it into your existing workflow, with no worry of a lock-in. Self-host or use Vrite Cloud for convenience. ✅ Modern WYSIWYG technical content editor Vrite features a WYSIWYG editor designed specifically with technical writing in mind. It features a modern editing UI, Markdown support, a built-in code editor, and Prettier integration. ✅ GitHub integration Get started with Vrite in minutes by syncing content from your GitHub repo. Use existing transformers or create custom ones, to import/export content in any format you want. ✅ Kanban/list dashboard Easily manage content production with a built-in Kanban dashboard. You can also switch to other views - like the List view - that best accommodate your workflow. ✅ Semantic search with AI; Search through and chat with your entire content base, thanks to semantic search and AI. ✅ Real-time collaboration Collaborate in real-time, in the dashboard and the editor. Communicate with comments and control access via a powerful permission model. ✅ Easy publishing Easily publish your content to popular platforms like DEV, Hashnode, or Medium with only drag and drop, thanks to publication extensions. ✅ Powerful API Access pretty much all features of Vrite via its API. Build docs, blogs, and great user experiences with customizable JSON-based content, semantic search, and more!

I've signed up and explored interface. Have to say, that it seems well thought and prepared system. Author definitely knew what he did. But at the same time I feel a lack of suggestions. If there will be step-by-step guide which explain from where to start and how to proceed - it would make things easier. Also service promoted as collaborative which means that several persons can work on the same project, right? I think it would be great then to add communicative/social aspect to this platform, turn service into social hub. Participants have a lot of directions to talk about: · Visitors can engage in technical discussions related to product documentation, blogs, knowledge bases, or any kind of technical content. · Users can ask for coding assistance or collaborate on projects by sharing code snippets and discussing solutions. · Visitors can share their favorite articles or resources related to technical topics and discuss them with others. · Members of the community can make announcements about events, workshops, conferences, job opportunities within the tech industry, · Users have a platform where they can provide feedback regarding specific content pieces or suggest improvements/enhancements for certain areas of discussion. · Allow users to create chat rooms dedicated explicitly o general conversations unrelated directly to any mentioned topic above but still relevant in terms as being part developers' community ecosystem. This should definitely add value.

@ayauho Appreciate the thoughtful feedback and suggestions. For now, Vrite is still in Beta (v0.2.0) so the documentation isn't yet up to the highest standards. That said, collaboration in Vrite works more like what you'd know from Notion, Google Docs, etc. Your team members can have customized access to the workspaces, to collaborate on content. Currently, they can manage the dashboard and write in the editor in real time. On top of that, they can use the commenting system in the editor, to discuss certain parts of the content. With that additional improvements are planned to the commenting system, content sharing (i.e. preview from Vrite to users outside the Workspace), and collaboration as a whole. Being a kind of social platform for Devs isn't currently the goal. There are some pretty good options here already, like Dev.to and Hashnode. Vrite is more of a dev-focused alternative to tools like Notion, Google Docs, and established, closed-source players in docs space, like GitBook or Confluence. That said, there are many ways in which Vrite can evolve, so time will tell. 🙂

Git integration was a good add one here. Good work!

THIS IS NICE FOR ME

This seems like a really powerful tool. What was your inspiration behind this?
Arek Nawo
@tt1517268 Primarly from my work in technical writing. I have seen how people struggle with managing multiple tools, all not really optimized for technical writing. From this starting point, I wanted to create something versatile that could not only be used as a CMS, but also as a knowledge base and documentation tool - essentially a platform to handle all sorts of technical writing needs.

Looks awesome and it's open-source. What would you say are your competitors?
Arek Nawo
@jsteneros From the documentation and knowledge base side, I'd say it's apps like GitBook and Confluence - both closed-source. On the other hand, I've worked in technical writing where larger teams used multiple apps - like Trello, Dropbox Paper, and WordPress - to manage their technical marketing blog. From this "CMS-like" side, Vrite has the potential to replace them all, being not necessarily better than each one of them separately, but providing a great, integrated experience.
Johan Steneros
@areknawo Do you have any plan to monetize the product?
Arek Nawo
@jsteneros Really glad to hear that! There are still many bugs to fix and features to add, but I think Vrite can become something truly special!
Arek Nawo
@jsteneros The Cloud offering will be the primary source of monetization once Vrite is out of Beta. It'll provide the best Vrite experience, that's scalable and includes all features of Vrite out-of-the-box. Of course, you can self-host it with all the features included, but the full setup is quite a bit of work to install and maintain.
Johan Steneros
@areknawo Sound like a good plan. Are you guys looking for funding?

Congratulations on the launch! As a developer, I really needed a product like this!
Arek Nawo
@anahit_torosyan1 Thanks! Definitely give it a try and let me know what you think!
