@rrhoover If Yac is async voice and Tandem/Around is sync —then we're aiming to make it seamless to go between async and sync :D
We believe most of the problems around collaboration and communication happens between the gap between async and sync. Like getting stuck texting back and forth on Slack, time wasted scheduling a call, or having too many live meetings/discussions without proper async documentation.
We're just getting started in tackling these problems via voice and transcriptions 😄
@rrhoover The live voice notes (silent walkie talkie) feature is a unique example of something that works seamlessly sync and async. It works live (like a walkie-talkie) when two teammates are actively engaged in a conversation, but then just seamlessly turns into an async voice message if anyone becomes busy.
@smalter That's a great question! Our POV is that the biggest problems lie between asynchronous and synchronous communication—scheduling calls, texting back and forth, too many meetings..etc. So a seamless way to go from async voice to live conversations and back is what we believe differentiates us from other tools that focus on one or the other like tandem.
We wrote a short article about the async/sync communication gap if you're curious - https://www.presence.so/post/the...
Hope that helps answer your question!
Hi 👋 I'm Junu, founder of Presence.
Our goal with Presence (https://www.presence.so) is to make remote teamwork awesome via voice—without endlessly texting back and forth, having unproductive meetings, and zoom fatigue.
We've been incorporating feedback from hundreds of remote teams since before the pandemic—and we're excited to share the open beta with you today.
Presence is focused on a seamless live & asynchronous voice-first experience—which we believe is key in making remote teamwork thrive.
Some quick tips:
🏢 Spontaneously chat in drop-in voice rooms → for watercooler convos, jam sessions, office hours, external meetings and more
📻 Talk without being interruptive → send live and async voice notes that are silently transcribed as you speak for the receiver
🎹 Collaborate w/ the app hidden → via global push-to-talk shortcuts
🔗 Send transcribed voice notes anywhere → via Slack, Notion, Google Docs and more
Looking forward to hearing what you think about Presence, the future of voice, and remote teamwork 🙌
I've been using Presence for a while now and it's been a real game-changer.
