Man, totally wish I had this back in college for collecting all of the club dues...and a great way to acquire more users in the "millennial" age bracket that don't already have Venmo accounts
This doesn't seem to work like tilt or paybygroup at all...rather, it seems to be set up to allow multiple people to manage a single funding source. @lili_jang can you comment on what the intended use case is here?
Yes, @msaint, that's exactly right. Venmo group accounts have all the features of Venmo personal accounts, making it easy to pay/reimburse anyone or request money from a group of people, with the added advantage of having multiple administrators. Our dream is that groups, orgs, and clubs with shared expenses will finally be able to get rid of cash, checks, and calculators once and for all.
@lili_jiang I love Venmo, cool to see some Philly people building something. I know they left the city but still it warms my heart. I worked at a startup a few years ago and our interns were UPenn students. They were all excited about Venmo and introduced me to it. My friends and I (now in Atlanta) use it all the time.
@gillianim, we hear ya. Venmo users can easily find, pay, and request money from group accounts using their mobile apps already, but we're considering what a mobile optimized experience for group admins might look like in the future. Stay tuned!
@ricburton, since the group account you just set up is a brand new account, separate from your individual Venmo account, you'll want to get it set up with it's own friend list, funding sources, silly gif pic, and the works.
Hey there, @theezaven. A group account is a separate Venmo account you can set up that allows you to use Venmo for your group/org/club finances and helps keep your group transactions separate from your personal transactions. Happy to answer any additional questions you might have!
@brendan_o That's exactly how I got a bunch of my friends to initially sign up for Venmo. I had the hidden agenda of doing it so then we could use it for all kinds of payments to each other after. Works like a charm!
