@rrhoover Yup. I wonder if we need traffic lights for footpath too if everyone starts to buys them. Same restrictions that are applied to segways will apply to these vehicles.. Will be good for universities and companies with huge campus
@rrhoover People want to get places faster and more efficiently! Personal transportation is becoming a large industry, and we want URB-E to forever be leading the way in terms of performance and quality. Since we build it in America (by hand in Pasadena), we have a good feeling we'll continue to stay ahead of the competition.
I had the pleasure of testing out the new @urberides at SXSW. After the first try I went back to get more friends and tried it again.
It's super fun, all-electric, and has some real power. Feels like a cross between a tiny motorcycle and a scooter.

Got to test this at SXSW and the URB-E was so much fun and easy to use. It's certainly the most functional and exciting personal transportation device I've seen.
I'd love for something like this to be taken seriously. But I feel like these types of things always seem a little gimmicky. Like the hoverboards.
These are actually cool way to get around but just think it may have the same fate as hoverboards.
@bentossell Hoverboard has the Google Glass thing where it just looks too out of the future. This looks like legos, and very very practical. It can handle SF hillz will ease too 💫
@nivo0o0 yeh these seem more practical and agree with the futuristic feel ha.

Wonder if they will be able to avoid the legal issues that others have faced. Should be fine because its just a mini bike right?

@bentossell Keep in mind that a big reason hoverboards failed is because it is dangerous. If someone can provide a safer product I think there is still opportunity.
@nivo0o0 @bentossell that and hoverboards can hardly even handle a crack or differential in terrain. This would be pretty fun to ride around in more flat areas, but I can't imagine getting around in a big city filled with pedestrian landmines and tons of traffic.
Took this sucker for a spin during SXSW! It was lighter than expected and a sweet ride. Got it up to a pretty good speed and takes corners like a champ. These should be everywhere soon (I hope).

I think is a good and simple idea that could help with two real big problems, contamination and mobility. Besides portability makes it simply to integrate with public transport. Pricing could be an issue because of the non electric alternatives that could be bigger, stronger and could be hard to beat in some markets, but I wish you the best. This will be really cool and helpful vehicle.
These look so fun, I think I saw one of these on Casey Neistat's YouTube. Lil speedy fun thing. Anything to avoid traffic in Los Angeles please. Woo hoo!
This would be the perfect way for me to eliminate my commute, and with it being able to be used in bike lanes, I could zip to work in a safe manner!
Looks cool. Do you ride it in the bike lane, on the street, or on the sidewalk? Also, I clicked "shop now" and expected some specs and pricing...instead it takes me to a financing page. Thanks!
@nitinjulka You ride it anywhere a bicycle is allowed! And we just changed that link, thanks for pointing it out. But yes, we have financing - we're a design and innovation company focused on solving the pain points of urban living, of which finances can be done of them.... you can own an URB-E for as little as $1.75/day!
The need is def there......but i dont see myself using this or hoverboards......i get cramps while sitting on such smaller bikes...... i like a startup that had Aladin's magic carpet! I think that will be way cooler! ;) Dunno the feasibilty or regulation that comes with it!! Dubai is already using Jetpacks
@iamnineblack You'd be surprised how comfortable the URB-E is. It's like riding a loungechair if you put your feet up on the front wheels. We made it extremely comfortable, and the seat doesn't feel like that of a bicycle. And because you're so low to the ground, your feet can always touch the ground, again adding to the level of comfort. Can't comment on the Jetpacks though - perhaps those might give you cramps as well ;)
How is it "German Engineered" yet "Designed in Pasadena"? Did they import Germans to Pasadena to make this?
@bobtheblobman Our CTO, Sven Etzelsberger, is a former head engineer at Porsche. He is definitely a German living in Pasadena. He engineered the URB-E. It's a pretty incredible design and engineering feat!
I had the opportunity to meet the @urberides team and ride one around Pasadena. Great product. Unbelievably detailed production, high-quality feel, and a surprisingly comfortable ride. No doubt going to have an impact on transportation in major cities / college campuses.
Not to mention they have a great team behind it.

@augustnoble @urberides @madisonpete I also got to ride one and meet the team... it was a pretty cool experience. I think this complements those who use metro as a 'last mile home' connector. Would like to see more designs soon!

That would be cool if they actually made that happen, that means less charging and more FUN :-)
