Will AI replace software developers, or just make them 10x more efficient?

by

AI-assisted coding is evolving fast—from GitHub Copilot to Cursor to Devin AI (the first "autonomous software engineer"). But what does this mean for developers?

Will AI eventually replace entry-level coding jobs?

Or will it just make developers significantly more productive?

If AI can write and debug code, will software engineers shift to more architectural and strategic roles?

Would love to hear how developers are adapting and where you see this trend going! 🚀

AI is great at writing boilerplate and speeding up debugging, but real engineering is about problem-solving and system design. AI will make developers more productive, not obsolete.

I think junior devs will struggle the most. AI like Devin AI already automates some entry-level tasks. Future developers will need stronger critical thinking and architecture skills to stay relevant.

We use GitHub Copilot and Codeium, and they save hours per week. But they still make weird mistakes that require human intuition to catch. AI might replace bad coders, but great devs will only get better!
