Lately, there’s been some great pro-European innovation content on Product Hunt—initiatives like EU Inc have sparked discussions on how Europe can better support startups.
In that spirit, I wanted to share An Open Letter on Accelerating European Progress—a policy-driven initiative that lays out five key proposals to make Europe more competitive and innovation-friendly.
📢 Where it’s been featured:
• Policies referenced in FT Alphaville and Marginal Revolution
• Discussed by policy analysts in Brussels and submitted directly to the EU
• Gaining traction among entrepreneurs, VCs, and economists
📌 What’s in the letter?
🔹 Corporate Tax Reform – Moving to a cash-flow-based system to boost reinvestment 🚀
🔹 Common Markets – Strengthening Europe’s capital, energy, and defense procurement sectors 🔋
🔹 Standardisation & Digital Integration – Seamless business incorporation, digital infrastructure, and public APIs 💻
🔹 Digital Sandboxes – Creating regulatory testbeds for innovation 🧪
🔹 A European Advanced Research Agency – Funding high-risk, high-reward deep tech 🧬

@m_hassan_sajjad No not publicly, at this point I’ve had (very) positive feedback in private only.
Most of these policy recommendations were mentioned in the Draghi report and the ensuing EU “competitive compass”. I’m not sure if the teams that drafted these read my work, however given how similar the proposals were and the traffic this has received I would say it’s possible, although I obviously cannot confirm.
Curious how policymakers are reacting to this. Have any EU representatives responded publicly?
