There's no annual fee. Also earn $100 after spending $500 on purchases in the first 90 days.

Uber is getting into the credit card industry, offering a competitive 4% back on restaurants/dining, 3% on travel, 2% on ecommerce, and 1% overall cash back. This is an impressive offer (most cards max out at 2-3%, and I only know of a single AMEX card that has offered more than 4% on restaurants - and that was just for a special promo). Incredibly excited for this. Already set my calendar.

@nickabouzeid With the Chase Sapphire Reserve you get 3x points on Travel AND Dining and those points can be redeemed for 1.5¢/pt. So you get 4.5% cash back on Dining + Travel and 1.5% cash back on everything else. Uber card is only better on e-commerce (which if you're spending that much online, it's probably on Amazon and you should get the 5% cash back Amazon card).

@chris_hutchins sure but for average person who doesn't want to spend $450 on CSR then this is a great card. Personally I won't be applying for this as I have the CSR.

@chris_hutchins Quynh hit the nail on the head: the Uber card doesn't include the annual $450 fee, which probably makes this a better investment overall for most spenders. Seems like a simple enough Google Doc to build though! (maybe a fun weekend project 🤔)

@hellotiago No. EU capped the interchange fee to 0.3%, not much left so that banks can afford to give out rewards. So on the upside merchants will have to pay much less for card processing.

The 4% back on dining is appealing but I still don't think it rivals the Amazon card that gets you a whopping 5% back on Amazon purchases 😍

@yefim True. I was considering getting this card until I realized most of my purchases are on amazon. theres no way I could eat out at the rate I buy things on amazon.

@yefim @nickabouzeid setting up the rotation is key. For me, having 3-4 cards for specific purposes works. Beyond that, it would get confusing!

@yefim @nickabouzeid I should have clarified. 3-4 regularly in the rotation! I have a bunch of one off cards that I'll use sparingly, like JetBlue for JetBlue purchases only. I just don't keep them all in my wallet 🙂

The phone insurance on this seems amazing. $25 deductibles, and it covers up to $600 in damage per incident. A lot of people are going to feel comfortable going caseless now.

Interesting! To me personally, the most exciting part is the "No Foreign Transaction Fees On Purchases Outside the U.S." However I wonder if that means I can travel to Australia and not feel bad every time I use the credit card?

@orliesaurus If it's anything like the Amazon Visa credit card, then yes. As a Canadian who makes a lot of USD purchases, no foreign transaction fees is a godsend.

Like i said register is very long for me.

Pros:

Sounds good i feel like American Express in México

Cons:

Register Form is too complex for people that use Uber, is not friendly and i feel here are a lot of data. Maybe a wizard could help a bit

@rage_rave No, the card can also have the rewards redeemed as gift cards and cash back (according to the Uber website: www.uber.com/en-US/c/uber-credit...).
