Super excited to see this evolve. Having seen it from the very early sketches and how it's turned out over time, I can do nothing but take the hat off. Great work. Looks awesome fellas. So excited to use this for a couple of personal projects this year. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Why did you decide that video contact form is a good idea? A lot of people are afraid of face-to-face contact, like me.
David OKuniev
@jordanslon As mentioned above there is a voice or text option for the shy ones.
Steven Hambleton
Will there be an Android product? Also, have you considered the possibility that this system will be abused? I can only imagine the NSFW submissions..
Devin Rajaram
This is super cool! Something weird happens on mobile if you select 'text' as a response. The field is pushed out of view until i scroll back up. (iPhone XS Max)
David OKuniev
@devinrajaram Will check it out. I though we squashed that issue already.

This is truly a game changer for small products that live & die by their intimate connections to customers. Can't wait to see this evolve! I want to start using it on one of my products but would like a little more control over the widget -- I want to reduce the widget's distance from the bottom right of the page (it's a bit too far out), customize the emoji on the widget, and customize the background color on the videoAsk once it pops up (right now it's purple by default). I would put it in production today if I could control two out of these three things. I'm sure this is all in the product map, but wanted to say it anyway because I can't wait to use it. Kudos to the Typeform team! 🎊

@nicoglennon1 If you reach out to me on videoask@typeform.com would love to chat more about this...

Imagine using this for a survey: respondents would be able to say everything they have in mind in an audio/video recording which is quite interesting for a researcher. A great way to mix qualitative and quantitative research designs.
Andu Potorac
This is absolutely genius and in-line with the product perception, from a customer point of view. Great execution also!

It took me 2 minutes to implement it. Can't get better than that!

Pros:

This is such a cool idea and such a simple implementation. Amazing product, can't wait to see it mature!

Cons:

No cons, just feature requests :)

So if I want to use this for my product business, and someone needs a response from me, I'm going to want to make sure I go somewhere quiet, look presentable, and kind of know what I'm going to say ahead of time so as not to make a long-winded rambling video. In some ways, this seems less efficient than a genuine written response which can be edited before sending. I do understand the personability it brings — giving a face to your company, I just wonder if something like this can really take off as a substitution for standard text responses, which can be made from bed, in a loud mechanic shop, or while you're in a robe. What are people's thoughts on the awkward aspects of this product?
David OKuniev
@mbrunygroth Just to clarify. For people responding, there is the option to reply via Audio and Text as well (not everyone wants to do video as you point out). As far as creating the Contact form greeting video. I guess I would just have to say you get as much back as you put into it. So the more you invest in making a good greeting question the better the response you might get. At the end of the day that´s how things work in real life and the ethos behind this product
Michael August Bruny-Groth
@okuiux I see, my misunderstanding was that I thought this was meant to be a way to respond to inquiries, not to ask questions soliciting a response. Thanks for clearing that up :)

Once again excellent work by the Typeform team. Really excited to see how this is going to change the way we collect information in a more human way.

Smart! !Typeform is mixing forms & video contacts. That's hypeForm :) you can quote me on that!

@rmtux the thing is that i'm not going to pay $30 per month for my own usage for sure. i'm looking at it as an individual, not a business. and i can't understand how business use it, and how many businesses. you need really a lot of clients to cover all invested millions, right?
David OKuniev
@rmtux @reepush Well if you are talking about Typeform, then I would just have to say that people value better interactions, better interactions lead to better transaction and there is inherent value in that.
Grisha Pushkov
@rmtux @okuiux yes, design and interactions are on top. just i have an impression that somehow Typeform got a huge investment and they did a great job. but still it's just forms presented in a nice way. i can't understand value for millions here. same with video. personally i feel very uncomfortable talking with a stranger on video. how it will make my communication better? also it's very rare to see models working in support, you know. looks like i'm not a targeted auditory.
Rami M. Amin
@reepush @okuiux "better interactions lead to better transaction and there is inherent value in that." Well said!
Linus Ekenstam
@reepush - not sure what you refer to as models? The people in the screenshots above is actual humans working at Typeform, just normal everyday people from the workforce. I guess if you have never seen or experienced or can't understand the value of conversations like the once you can make with Typeform it's easy to discard it. Let's just tell it from my point of view. We use it at https://getbamboo.io daily. And it's an invaluable tool for many of our processes, we have ongoing trailing Product Market Fit surveys, we do NPS surveys on a rolling schedule. We use it for collecting quantity and qualitative feedback about or product. We use it in internal processes. And to receive payments in some cases. Our design process is deeply dependant on the feedback we get from our test Tribe, we gather around a 1000 data points each week using Typeform. This helps inform business decisions that costs tens of thousands of dollars, so for $30 or $75 a month it's a no brainer really. We are now trying out VideoAsk to do impression recordings and testimonials that we then use on social media. So we use it for content creation. Connecting the humans from our community with our potential audience. So I think instead of jumping in with a pre-determined opinion that "it's just forms" you can get a lot longer by trying to learn more by trying to understand why hundreds of thousands of people like me are using Typeform as a tool. I'm not saying you are wrong, Typeform is indeed forms. I'm just saying your coming at this at a very closed angle, hard for you to learn anything in that position.
Rus Sellers
I am a massive fanboy of Typeform, and all of us at Starberry love everything they do, so much so that we have used their products all over our agency website! We've incorporates 3 types of the Typeform products. The standard conversational Typeform forms are used in place of the contact us page, We have a chat style Conversational User Interface (CUI) form on our homepage, and have VideoAsk video forms as part of our main calls to action ;-)

The team at Typeform rock too, they have been very engaged and responsive at all times, helping us really push what is possible.
Grisha Pushkov
@rus_sellers just checked your site. the first chat is just to know user's email and phone number. why not to have 2 fields and submit button? second one with more options and typeform really helps here. did you get more form submissions comparing with simple form and typeform's new one?
Linus Ekenstam
@rus_sellers @reepush Typeform beats the industry standard response rate by far, just read this from Quartz if you want to understand better why Typeforms seemingly simple interactions patterns makes for higher response rates. https://medium.com/@mia/getting-...
Lachlan Kirkwood
Such a great product! Love the transcription feature. Any plans to integrate a sentiment analysis?
David OKuniev
@lachlankirkwood That would be awesome, but no plans yet...so much to do before that...
Jesse Flores
This is pretty awesome. It's kind of like when chat widgets on websites just started way back when. Instant feedback is key to help to get customers to convert. Great Job!
Rihab Zaidi
This is interesting...and also fun! I think it will encourage more visitors to actually interact with teams, this can revolutionize Chatbots and traditional user conversation hacks :)) looks promising! Congrats
Alex Trup
Great idea! I don't see any mention of pricing or cost? Is there, or will there be any?
David OKuniev
@alextrup VideoAsk is free. We have not thought of a paid tier yet. In any case what you are seeing now is core functionality and we would expect for that to remain in the free tier.
Chris Bromfield
Great work again. Love it! Very keen to test it on one of our projects but when I hit download video in the app I'm getting an error downloading content.
David OKuniev
@chrisbromfield You might have not given the right permissions during the on-boarding set-up. Please go to you Iphone setting and select videoask. In there you need to enable access to your photo library. Hope this helps. Otherwise, email us directly videoas[at]typeform.com
Jordan Krueger
Is it currently one-to-one? (One question, one answer.)
David OKuniev
@jordankrueger We´re working on support for multiple questions in a single videoask
Hichem Rouabhi
