Hi everyone! 👋 We are thrilled to be releasing twine for Zoom, the ultimate Zoom Breakout Room management and speed networking tool! 🎉 So it’s been a crazy journey for us over here at twine. Our original mission was to end loneliness. Our first app, due to launch in March, 2020, was a face to face serendipity app that was somewhere between Sofar Sounds and a Church for the Rest of Us. 🤝 Then Covid happened, and it became clear that the problem of the Moment was how to connect people, meaningfully, online. It also became clear that we had to bring our tech to where the people were, and the people were on Zoom. 🖥️ In February, we teamed up with the amazing team over at Glimpse, and together we have put the finishing touches on twine for Zoom; the first app to bring true serendipity to Zoom.💫 Here’s what you can do on twine for Zoom: 🪢 Automatically sort participants into roulette style Breakout Rooms for timed, back-to-back small group or 1:1 conversations 👀 Set custom sorting rules for Breakout Rooms based on any variable you choose; match mentors with mentees, HR with new hires, students with research assistants… 🗺️ Create themed tables in Map Mode; participants can hop in and out of Breakout Rooms as they please 💬 Message across Breakout Rooms, with individuals, or with the whole group; return to your messages even once the meeting has ended. 💥Click through icebreakers while in a Breakout Room to get the conversation flowing. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑Use pre-set templates such as “Speed Networking” or “Mentor/Mentee” for one-click setup Here’s what you’ll be able to do with t4z in the coming weeks: ✅ Assign tasks to Breakout Rooms and monitor progress as the host 🔍 Customize & upload your own conversation prompts 📽️ Embed video, audio, images 📊 Detailed analytics dashboards & participant profiles I use twine for Zoom at every all hands. I use it on my big family Zooms. 👪 We use it when we hire new folks, to help them meet and get to know the whole team. We are getting approached by universities, by dating communities, by DAOs, by non profits - anybody who wants to build connection amongst a community. If your team has a meeting today, feel free to open the twine for Zoom app and run a couple rounds! I’ll be here all day welcoming feedback. Finally, a special shout out to the amazing @helenamerk and @brian_li3 for starting this exciting project nearly 12 months ago - we wouldn’t be here without you all! 🙏

Hey Hunters, My name is Oliver - I'm one of the engineers behind twine for Zoom! The team & I have been working super hard over the last year to make facilitating people in Zoom intuitive. We've focused a lot on building a wonderful interface for hosts, and lately have been enhancing our matchmaking engine. Over the last 18 months we've been working with the Zoom Apps team in their Beta program to define new APIs for integrating with Zoom meetings via their new Zoom Apps SDK* We've faced a lot of challenges in getting our application working smoothly inside Zoom, but we're extremely excited to finally share a comprehensive, working product with you all today! We know Breakout Rooms can be a pain point in Zoom, and we've received countless amounts of feedback from hosts across many industries on ways we can improve the experience. We've tried to create a tool that can facilitate a wide range of experiences using Breakout Rooms. We can't wait to see how you use it! --- *https://www.producthunt.com/prod...

Hi Hunters! I’m Samantha, one of the twine team members who’s been working on this project for almost a year now. Several members of the twine team, including myself, went through what we call “Covid College” for our last couple years of school. I spent every single class of my Junior & Senior Years on Zoom. I experienced the true awkwardness of watching professors struggle to set up Breakout Rooms, and I felt the pain of not being able to form meaningful relationships with my peers. I’m so excited to be part of a project that can help not just the academic world, but any kind of remote or distributed team– I know it’s already helped our team feel incredibly connected. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Thanks for checking it out. We can’t wait to make the experience even better and end Zoom fatigue! 🎉

FINALLY something that makes zoom meetings less unbearable - rooting for the twine team!

Hey everyone, I’m overjoyed to be sharing twine for Zoom with the community! I started building social software to foster in-person connections pre-pandemic. Since then we shifted focus to virtual, starting with our own web platform. As the world shifts to a new equilibrium one thing is clear - distributed work is here to stay and Zoom is a major platform for this new age of work. Zoom is everywhere, it got us all through the pandemic. Their developer ecosystem is ushering in an exciting evolution of Zoom, and we're excited to be building with them. A major hurdle for building apps like twine on Zoom is meeting the expectation Zoom users have that the product just works. The challenge is meaningful if you consider the multitude of ways someone can join a Zoom - on mobile, through many web browsers, and on various versions of Zoom’s desktop client. To meet expectations we took a phased approach to app adoption and functionality. Building for the Base Case For many virtual events, the most common networking experience hosts want to implement is speed networking - timed, randomized rounds of matches. Before twine for Zoom, hosts had to manually assign participants, open breakout rooms, close breakouts, and then recreate assignments and reopen breakouts. We architected twine for Zoom in a way that enables hosts to automate speed networking with a single button without requiring participants to have the app. Participants can join from any device type, browser, and Zoom version and still participate. Unlocking Advanced Use Cases There will always be power users who want to elevate their Zoom meetings and events. With twine for Zoom, you can add tag-based matchmaking experiences as well as spatial maps of tables to give participants choice as to who they meet. These modes previously required every participant to have the app installed in order to interact with tags and spatial maps. Installing a Zoom App can prove to be tricky depending on the type of Zoom account being used. Recent innovations from the Zoom Apps team have addressed this point of friction by enabling app access without requiring an installation. Now getting a room full of participants into twine for Zoom is as simple as one click. 🪢 I couldn’t be more proud of how our team, our customers, and the Zoom Apps team have come together to build something special. Shout out to @ross, @simplyarun, and team at Zoom for building such an amazing developer platform and community! If you ever want to share feedback, get a demo, or just talk shop feel free to reach out to me at taylor@twine.nyc!

Greetings, Product Hunt 🫶 I’m an engineer and the CTO here at twine. Over a year ago, I joined the team to help invent tools that rebuild the relationships strained by remote work and forge new ones. I believe that remote and hybrid is the future of work, and only recently have we begun to grasp the tools and culture it takes to do it effectively. Ultimately, the people at twine are what galvanized my decision to join the team. We are a group of friends and colleagues strewn across many geographies, eagerly building experiences that draw us together, and we’re excited to share that with you today! 🚀 We’ve been quietly working to bring twine to where your communities already gather - right inside Zoom. The powerful Zoom App platform has opened the door to new connection-building experiences driven by our custom matchmaking engine, and this is just the beginning. The twine for Zoom app is already a core part of our routine and culture. Each of our weekly product and engineering team meetings begins with a few automatic rounds of breakout rooms to catch up and introduce new team members. As a manager, I view twine as a vital piece of connective tissue for our team. The future is bright for distributed communities and remote work. Today, we are overflowing with excitement and eager to hear what you think!

Hi there! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Zola from the twine team here, we are so excited to launch twine for Zoom to the world!! For us this launch has been an opportunity to reflect back on where we started and where we’re going. When Lawrence asked me to join twine and leave my job at a large company I was hesitant - we were in the middle of a pandemic and my job at the time was the only thing that felt secure. What got me to say yes was twine’s mission to help make it easy for people to create and build genuine connections, something I missed during a time of isolation. Today we’ve made this possible in a tool teams use every day, I'm so proud and I could not be happier to be a part of this amazing team. 💜 We “drink our own champagne”🥂 here at twine, Lawrence uses our Shuffle mode during our Monday morning team meetings - it’s the best way to start off a Monday. I always learn something new about my colleagues and leave the meeting feeling ready for the week. I encourage you to give us a try! If you’d like to run a dress rehearsal with me prior to using us please don’t hesitate to reach out or stop by our office hours. Once you get the hang of it it’s magic! ✨✨

Hello Product Hunt Community! 👋 We are so excited to be bringing twine for Zoom to the world. Before joining twine as their Head of Customer Success, I owned an event planning company and have run thousands of events over the last 15 years. I will forever be an #eventprof at heart. In the last two years, like many event professionals, I’ve run a lot of virtual events, many on Zoom and many needing to utilize the breakout room functionality to add interaction and engagement. As a host, I was always stressed about setting up Zoom breakout rooms: the pre-assignments not working out, figuring out how many people to put into the rooms, moving them back to the main room, setting a timer on conversations, and trying to figure out how to manually move people around breakout rooms so they’d have the best conversations. It was a lot for the host to think about on top of running the event. twine for Zoom takes all that work off of the host’s plate and with a click of a button, you can put people into different types of matchmaking! When I first saw what our product team had built, I was so excited at the idea of sharing it with the event planning community. It’s a game changer for #eventprofs. 🎉 Our team is hosting all day office hours to answer questions, help people install the app (free in July!), and learn more about the matchmaking modes, so if you want to check it out pop in and say hi at https://twine.link/twineofficehours

Been waiting for something like this for Zoom. I have had experience with speed networking on other platforms but to see something like this integrated into tools that you use everyday is great. I see great potential. Congratulations on the launch 🎉

Sitting with Ann, the Head of Customer Success in her office hours right now. Saw the product a few months ago and was blown away then. Now - it's even better!!!
Anh Nguyen
@rabbi_david_paskin David1 That was so fun. I love the look on people's faces when we show them how you can still use the app without having to download it, meaning 100% participation for your guests. Thanks for keeping me company :)

Great App !!!. Power of Twine Networking now in Zoom.
Ross Mayfield
This is a great Zoom App for helping distributed employees connect with each other and attendee networking. Highly recommended. Congrats on launching!
Taylor McLoughlin
@ross Thanks for all the support, we couldn't have done it without you and your team!
Diana
How exciting! What's the most amount of people you can "Twine" at one time with? Can the Twine be branded for Client events?
Taylor McLoughlin
Thanks, @diana_canellis ! twine can facilitate as many people as can fit in a Zoom Meeting! Eventually we'll be able to power Zoom Webinars as well...Branding is on the roadmap - there are a ton of possibilities that Zoom is opening up on this front!
Anh Nguyen
@diana_canellis Hey Diana! Great question. In Zoom, our capacities are only based on what your account limits within Zoom are for the number of participants. If you have some of Zoom's larger meeting packages, we can handle everyone! We're definitely working on some new ways to brand the product for sponsors and client events so stay tuned!
Liz King Caruso
Awesome!! We LOVE twine and have used it quite a bit so I’m happy to see the partnership with Zoom - another platform of choice!!
Lawrence Coburn
@liz_king_caruso Thanks Liz!
Anh Nguyen
@liz_king_caruso One of our favourite supporters! We look forward to partnering with you on some fun initiatives in the next little while. Thanks for the support!

It's been great to watch you develop this awesome product, which is one of the first full fledged enterprise culture building products designed during and built for the post-COVID era. Regardless of work configuration, every company will have some or all team members remotely located, and twine for Zoom keeps keeps them engaged via the platform that they already likely use every day for team communication. Congrats @ltrain @tmcloughlin and the whole team at twine!
Taylor McLoughlin
@clint_chao Thanks for the continued support - we're grateful for all you guys do!
