Trove is a chrome extension that allows you to create highlights and comments across the internet and send them to Notion — without ever leaving your browser.
@simoelalj thanks! and not right now, and we will keep a version for personal use free forever.
It is something we've thought about quite extensively -- depending on how people use this we'll iterate accordingly.
@simoelalj would absolutely love to chat though! I am a huge fan of notion automations, and very curious how you're finding people + able to have so many integrations. DM-ing on Twitter!
@dangio25 thanks! and yes, we see a compelling case for research with everything on the sliding scale from Realtime <--> Async research. More specific examples:
1) Collaborative Research
ex. Any shared competitors, market information doc. Saw Tango is early, you're probably looking at channels and creating docs surrounding that. @akshath_sivaprasad and I put shared things there.
2) Shared Async Stores of Knowledge: ex. a resource library for teams (usually that one is a database with a Person property so you can tag people). Sending marked up articles with your highlights and comments -- for us it streamlines sending the other person the link and then later talking about it (1 rather than 2 steps).
@akshath_sivaprasad@ali_wetrill Both super cool. #2 could be pretty frequent now that I think about it.... Honestly great for just grabbing a bunch of URL's really fast too whether its for product/design inspo, prospect linkedin profiles, candidate research, etc.
Saves me so much time, thanks for this.
@ali_wetrill At a later data when you have enough data you could create "page highlights", seeing what others have highlighted and saved on the page.
@joseph_burfitt this is actually where we want to go, eventually having public opt-in highlighting to create a shared knowledge community. having people broadcast and curate knowledge and eventually monetize that curation is what we would like.
Just figuring out the best way to get there :) If you have time, would love to chat and hear more: www.calendly.com/ali-wetrill/20
Thanks @mwseibel for the hunt! Hi everyone, I'm Ali! Excited to share Trove with you!
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 👋
@akshath_sivaprasad and I built Trove because we wanted a better way of bringing online knowledge into Notion.
For me, it was because I use August Bradley's PPV system, and found that I consistently 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 when copying and pasting research into Notion, or moving across Instapaper, Pocket, and Readwise just to highlight and add comments.
There are two main use cases where we found ourselves using Trove:
𝟭. 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱, 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 📚
Ex. Combing through documentation, learning a new language, understanding why dogecoin went up 80% yesterday.
𝟮. 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 💡
Ex. A stray comment on reddit, a meme about the Suez canal, the latest news about Elon Musk, or any of Naval's tweets
𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸? 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁? 👋

@eugenehp echo-ing Akshath - love that idea! Would love to chat to hear more about your use case to nail down specifics (how you'd want the quotation formatted, citations): https://www.calendly.com/ali-wet...
Hello, it's not the right place for it, but i did not find any other feedback place: Trove is not working anymore for me since more than 1 week: i cannot login to the service, it says network error... Thanks for your feedback
This addresses a big issue with capture in Notion and takes it to the next level. I have not seen any tool capture reading content real-time from the article's home page as effectively. It's nice to be able to do this in the context of the original article. Great work Ali & Akshath.
@augustbradley thank you so much, this really means a lot to me 😊 feel free to DM me anytime with feedback, we're working on pulling together our new short-term roadmap (like the one we showed you before) but for the next month!
