Tripnary helps you discover your next vacation based on your budget.

Thanks for hunting Tripnary 2.0 @neerajt4. We are really excited to be here. Tripnary 2.0 is a major update to Tripnary based on our learnings over the past one year. Tripnary 2.0 streamlines the flight search experience to make it even easier to find where you can go based on how much you want to spend. Key goal with Tripnary 2.0 was to improve the workflow throughout the app, to make everything a lot more efficient for you to book travel. So much has changed since we started, but our goal to help people travel more for less has always been the same. For decades, online travel agencies like Expedia and Orbitz have trained you to search for travel in a very specific way. Select your departure airport, your destination, and dates and off you go. The problem with this is that as leisure travelers, you are flexible about the destination. But, every travel app requires that you know exactly where you want to go. In fact, a recent Google research shows that 54% of the leisure travelers don’t have a destination in mind when starting to plan their travel and 85% decide on a destination based on price. That’s where Tripnary comes in. Just tell us your budget and travel dates and we give you endless possibilities you can travel to in one tap! Check out Tripnary 2.0 and let us know what you think. Happy to answer questions from the Product Hunt community.

Excellent job @goelv @abhishekg @r_cajetan! Tripnary was one of the first companies to demo here in Chicago at our local Product Hunt meetup, it's great to see you guys back! I'm enjoying the curated lists, especially since I'm in the middle of planning our next trip. Some great recommendations that we haven't thought of. Keep up the great work.
Abhishek Ghuwalewala
@bangner You bet! If you find any interesting destinations from Chicago, let me know.
Divraj
great job @goelv @abhishekg @r_cajetan. Love all the changes you have made since 1.0. Both value proposition and UX have become stronger. Really like the attention to detail. The smart date picker and budget selector are awesome features which help separate you from other apps in the space . Keep it up ! look forward to seeing regular updates.

@divraj thank you! This means a lot!! We've spent countless nights obsessing over all the little details in the app and am very proud of the end result.
Abhishek Ghuwalewala
Thanks @divraj. We are really excited to share what we have built with Tripnary 2.0. Let us know if you have any other feedback!

One of the things that I've really enjoyed seeing is the curated collections. That gives me an idea of the types of experiences I can have within my budget and home airport. Oftentimes a trip has a purpose - it's not just about getting away but about having a particular type of trip. Very handy to see, and I look forward to how this pans out as far as travelers being able to share their own curated collections and dream trips. The idea to tackle that bucket list is still a great one - and we all need as much help as we can get to experience the worlds we dream about seeing! It would also be useful to see popular destinations from my home airport, so that I could see what others are searching for within that collection. So that way I can choose to head someplace off the beaten path (and maybe pay more) or pick a popular route that might also be cheaper. Or just find a place where I know I won't run into many people I know!

@abhishekg great to see it on Product Hunt :) There are so many apps that show 'the cheapest' flights - is not having a pre-determined you big differentiator? And do you really think that it is a big enough USP that you can survive in this space?
Abhishek Ghuwalewala
@bentossell Yes, we think this is a huge opportunity for us. What we don’t want to become is a repository of cheap flights. If you look at the travel industry, flight prices are a commodity. You can find the same fares on every app or website you use. What we really want to focus on is the decision-making process with an objective criteria. We also give you the ability to save places and get notified when prices drop. We believe that the conversion from look-to-book will be much higher when fares are personalized to you. With Tripnary 2.0, we are making it easy to answer the question – where can I go for $300? If you look at how you would go about doing that search? On Expedia, Orbitz, and Kayak we have to manually specify several outbound destinations to find which one is cheaper. And even after multiple searches you might not find a city that fits your budget. If you look at millennial behavior, increasingly people are making a decision about where they want to go more spontaneously. Leisure travelers are inherently flexible about where they want to but are constrained by their budget. So we think this is a large, untapped market.

This is exactly what I was looking for! I hope to get great ideas for traveling with my family this summer :-)
Pankaj Tibrewal
Superb idea... love being able to see airfares to many destinations at the same time
Abhishek Ghuwalewala
Thanks a lot @pankajtib. Glad you are finding it valuable. Let us know if we can improve the app in any way.

Will definitely have to check this one out...I'm a big fan of cheap travel! :)
Abhishek Ghuwalewala
@petrev01 excited to hear what you think!
Shashwat Pradhan
Good going, really like how you have progressed from the first version
Abhishek Ghuwalewala
@shashwatpradhan Thank you so much! This is a great time to go to National Parks. If you are into it, we are seeing amazing fares to Jim Corbett and Sundarbans National Park for under Rs. 10,000. Always looking for feedback :-)
Daniel Ehevich
It's funny because I had a similar idea a while ago and it seems like you guys made a nice version of it. Are you only using the Skyscanner API or you have plans to integrate more internal searching tools in the future? The prices on Skyscanner are not always the lowest.
Abhishek Ghuwalewala
@ehevich So far we are getting great results with Skyscanner and yes, we are planning to add more partnerships in the future. We are also looking into the possibility of integrating hotel bookings into the app, so you can better see what your budget will get you.
Sam Dickie
This looks great, just downloading it as i type, however im a big fan of Skyscanner! how is this any better?
Abhishek Ghuwalewala
@thisdickie We love Skyscanner too. In fact, Tripnary has partnered with Skyscanner. What we do differently is – First, we help you narrow down destination choices quickly based on travel passions and interests. We will be expanding these lists frequently. Second, we suggest points of interest within each destination based the travel theme so its easier for you to see what you can do when you get there. Third, we let people curate their own collections by saving places to their bucket list, so they can get notified when prices drop. Both by push notification on your phone as well as email.

@abhishekg fantastic! I have had a play about with the app as it would be perfect to find some places to visit travel to after I finish a work trip in New York in August. However im having difficulty navigating the app and finding any results so far. Also the budget slides seems to start at over £1000 and wont go down ay further! It would be great to drop a pin somewhere, for example NY and then select your budget and then see your results from any NY airport within the budget you selected! apologies if im missing something here with the app but I cant seem to get any results!
Abhishek Ghuwalewala
@thisdickie I am so sorry you are having trouble with the app. Are you seeing a blank map when you tap on "Unwind in Sunny Bliss" for example? Can you tell me what you are tapping on when no results are shown?
Ilana Golan
I love it. I always forget to book flights in advance so right before Christmas we decided we want to fly somewhere and dont really care where to. We wanted some ideas that are at a reasonable price. Doing such a search with the regular tools is close to impossible. Wish I had you guys then and I'm already looking at Tripnary for other trips. Thanks!
Abhishek Ghuwalewala
@ilanagolan Thanks! The current experience is so painful that we had to create Tripnary. Let me know where you decide to go on your next vacation 😀
Prince Bhojwani
Just found a flight for valentines because of this. Dope
Abhishek Ghuwalewala
@princebhojwani That is awesome! Always happy to hear about our user's experiences. Let me know if we can do anything to improve the app for you.

great app that will resonate with a lot of folks who travel for leisure, and like myself are frustrated with traditional travel planning options
