A few weeks ago I was looking for a Chrome extension that summarizes webpages ... fully expecting that this was a very solved problem. But I couldn't find a single one that was clean, fast, and worked well. Even the fancy new browsers (Arc) don't have this feature built-in. I was a little surprised ... and decided to build one for myself. I started using it all the time (biased, I'm sure...) and figured I'd package it up for others to use/try/give me feedback. Enter TLDR. It's really fast (says the proud parent). It's a sidebar for Chrome. It works for articles, YouTube videos and PDFs. And it handles 40 languages :) ps. It does not work in other Chromium-based browsers (like Arc) because the sidebar API tends to be flakier in those.

I have one request that could you add a way to adjust summary length?
Greg Hochmuth
@nick_willstrop yes, thank you! i've heard this from others too. would you want even shorter?

I've tried so many summarizers but they're all wither clunky or inaccurate.
Greg Hochmuth
@kat_pim give it a spin! hopefully this one can do a good job for you!

Really cool! I use it mostly for YouTube videos when I don't have time to watch the whole thing.

Useful to cut through the SEO noise and fluff and get to the meats and potatoes.

Now transcription got a competitor as an extension, the idea is helpful as an extension. All the best for the launch.
