As someone who has already had the pleasure of using Tiptap, I couldn't be more thrilled about your launch on Product Hunt! ๐ŸŽ‰ I have to say, I absolutely love what you have accomplished so far. It's hands down the best editor on the market for building collaborative interfaces in apps. The seamless experience and time-saving capabilities have made a significant difference in my development workflow. Your dedication to creating open-source tools and cloud services that empower web developers is commendable, and it's evident that you've poured your hearts into making Tiptap exceptional. The thought and effort you've put into creating a robust and lightweight rich text editor shine through in every aspect, espacially knowing the challenge complexity ๐Ÿคญ. Love the design! Is it possible to share who uses it? Any famous apps out there? I assume Notion has their own framework.
Sebastian Schrama
@sentry_co Yes, Notion has their own framework. Let's see if they'll use Tiptap in the future. :) You can see the apps who are using Tiptap on the penultimate slide here and on our website.
Karthik Kamalakannan
@sentry_co We use it heavily at featureOS (https://featureos.app). We found TipTap to be super useful after moving from other editors like Slate, TinyMCE, Draft, and Editor.js. We even created our own back in 2019, but it was super hard. When we tasted TipTap for the first time (when they were in beta), we fell in love with it. Especially with the way it works, and the ease of use.
Gustav Ekerot
@sentry_co We use it for tabOS(https://tabos.cloud), feels like a cheat code for building out a fully-featured text editor in no time ๐Ÿคฉ, and at the same time, it's so easy to modify it to your own liking.
Coleman T. Amason
Tiptap is awesome. There really isnโ€™t a better editor framework out there. Congratulations, guys!
Sebastian Schrama
@colemantamason Hey Coleman, thank you very much for your kind words! Is there anything we can do even better?
Coleman T. Amason
@sebastianschrama_tiptap finishing the documentation on custom commands would be helpful. Other than that, I think Iโ€™ve been able to find an answer to any issue I had. Keep crushing it!
Coleman T. Amason
@patrick_baber I played around with Quil/Draft for a while and then found ProseMirror. Thankfully, I stumbled upon Tiptap after and havenโ€™t looked back!
Patrick Baber
@colemantamason, wow! You really have something of a track record when it comes to editors. Thanks for sharing your insights.
Ajdin Proho
We recently switched from QuillJS, so far so good. Good luck guys !
Patrick Baber
@ajdin_proho, nice! How was the migration? How long does it take?
Ajdin Proho
@patrick_baber sorry, Iโ€™m not the best person to answer it, I am QA, but our FE lead @aldin_neziric can tell you more about it. Weโ€™re using it as part of our SaaS product superthread.com
Aldin Neziriฤ‡
@ajdin_proho @patrick_baber It took us 3 months to re-implement custom stuff that we had built on top of QuillJS, but we were mostly annoyed by library bugs not being fixed for a long time. We also had to migrate some content like bullet lists, task lists, etc. Thanks a lot for the amazing work you guys do!
Iren from FirstHR
Big congrats! Good luck!
Omar Diab
Tiptap is the best open source editor out there, and extending it is surprisingly easy. This allowed us to stand up a pretty awesome editor at my company in less than a week, with features that none of our competitors had. Inspirational and also super cool that this comes out of an open source collective. Def try it!
Philip Isik
@therealomardiab Thanks for sharing your positive experience with Tiptap! ๐Ÿ™
Nick from FirstHR
My big congrats, guys! Upvoted. Good luck!
Oleg from FirstHR
Congrats on the launch! You have my vote.
Patrick Baber
Thank you for your upvote, @oleg_eltsov! Do you have an idea for your next idea build with Tiptap? ๐Ÿ˜‰
Kunal Mehta
Congratulations on the successful launch of Tiptap! It's impressive to see how it's already gaining traction with renowned businesses. To enhance the product further, consider adding features like version control for collaborative editing, a user-friendly interface, and integrations with popular project management tools. I'd love to discuss more about your product and explore potential collaborations. Let's connect on Product Hunt to exchange ideas and support each other's ventures! ๐Ÿš€
Patrick Baber
@realkunalmehta, thanks for your feedback! Version control is almost done. So many people are asking us about a ready-to-use template, but to make it right, it needs some time. We'll see ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿป What do you mean by "integrations with popular project management tools"?
Kunal Mehta
@patrick_baber Integrations with popular project management tools refer to incorporating Tiptap's capabilities into existing project management platforms commonly used by businesses. For example, integrating Tiptap with tools like Trello, Asana, or Jira would enable users to seamlessly edit and collaborate on content within those platforms. This integration would enhance productivity and streamline workflows for teams that already rely on these project management tools, making Tiptap more valuable and appealing to a broader user base.
Daniel Shiner
Congrats on the launch TipTap team! Any timeline on when you will include commenting to the pro features? I've been watching your product for a while but this is personally the killer feature I'm waiting for.
Patrick Baber
@daniel_shiner, thank you for your valuable feedback! You are right, an extension to add comments makes sense. Some of our customers have asked for it as well. I think we need to prioritize this more. I'll talk to my colleagues about it. Thanks! ๐Ÿ™Œ
Daniel Shiner
Thanks @patrick_baber. I'll keep my eye out! For more context: I've dug into this topic closely because I am building a product that relies on commenting. Tiny and CKE have the feature, but Tiny's does not work in an embedded or bubble menu mode, and CKE is not compatible with NextJS (yet) and very expensive. Lexical by Meta has a working comments demo in their sandbox, but it is far from plug and play and requires a lot of wrestling to play with NextJS. There is definitely an opportunity to stand out here and be the commenting solution for the NextJS community.
Robert Espina
Congrats on the launch! I couldn't resist but write a positive comment here because Tiptap kit and the team behind it are just top of their game. I couldn't recommend it enough! I've used it in all of my projects, and it's the best alternative to QuillJS/tinyMCE in my humble opinion. I had an easy time migrating from QuillJS to their editor due to its well-thought-out architecture and documentation.
Patrick Baber
@robert_espina, thanks for your lovely words ๐Ÿ™ We try our best to have an excellent developer experience!
Varun AP
Probably the best editor out there for any product ๐Ÿ’ฏ Used it a while back and highly recommend.
Patrick Baber
@apvarun, we give our best. Thanks! ๐Ÿ™Œ What will be your next project with Tiptap? ๐Ÿค”
Varun AP
@patrick_baber Nothing at the moment. But I sure know where to look for if I need the best editor experience ๐Ÿ˜€
Zeno Rocha
Tiptap is super cool! Definitely the next-generation editor for the web.
Sebastian Schrama
@zenorocha Good to hear, thanks! What do you think we need to add to Tiptap to be the editor of the next generation but one? ๐Ÿ˜
Philip Isik
Thanks @zenorocha! I look forward to seeing tiptap work in resend as well :-)
Moritz Tomasi
Tiptap is my goto content editing tool! Love it and used it for three client projects so far. Keep up the good work!
Patrick Baber
@moritztomasi, with three client projects you must be pretty good at using Tiptap ๐Ÿ™Œ Can we find the projects somewhere?
Moritz Tomasi
@patrick_baber I do consider myself a bit of a Tiptap expert ๐Ÿ˜ Really sorry, unfortunately that is not possible. Two are specialised medical tools, which are invite only. And one is an internal admin tool. Personally i like to use headless stuff for my projects, so this has been perfect and my clients are very happy with the experience. Never had a complaint (about Tiptap). If you have some time you can check out our upcoming launch of mailbites.io. We would really appreciate the support (https://www.producthunt.com/prod...).
Cyril Gupta
Interesting launch, Congratulations!
Omar McPizza ๐Ÿ•
TipTap is epic Was so simple to integrate into our stack and it has all the extras you would need. If you dont need anything, it ships light and clean. This will become the standard!
Patrick Baber
Thank you, @omarmcpizza! ๐Ÿ˜Š What have you already built with Tiptap?
Omar McPizza ๐Ÿ•
@patrick_baber Built a few demo projects Now coming to UnInbox.com And later will come to another Un product for documents ๐Ÿ˜‰
Aykut KardaลŸ
