Tiip.app helps students write written assignments faster and more effectively. Many students struggle with English assignments and often burn themselves out trying to complete them last minute. Our service generates text quickly, with no plagiarism.
I really like the concept. But I found the suggestions are not so convincing after testing with some of my writings. May I know what technology you are using? How does it compare to Grammarly? Thanks.
@wei_sheng You're absolutely right. The suggestions aren't 100% accurate because it's a statistical model trained on a large corpus of data. Right now we are working to improve the suggestions through backward-optimization and user feedback. As more users use it, the statistics will improve the suggestions.
I love the product!
And an interesting clause in the terms of service:
'Produce and/or publish negative reviews about our platform without first letting us know'
Hi, I tested your app and it'd be great if it offers some useful word suggestions. Something like "You can use here another words like blah blah instead of this".
Hi Product Hunt π
I'm Pavel, the creator and designer of Tiip.
Two years ago, I took my first English course in college and saw first-hand how many of my co-students struggled with writing good essays and papers. The majority of the time it was not due to grammar issues or structure. Instead, they had weak and repetitive word-choice! They would use too many pronouns, not enough descriptive words, and often ended with cliche phrases such as 'in conclusion'. For them, the feeling of being able to write descriptively and authentically seemed out of reach.
I set out to change that.
Since writing my first line of code that day, I have been on the mission to help students write better. Along the way, countless students, teachers, and professors have assisted me, providing invaluable material, advice, and moral support. Today, I am more than ecstatic to officially launch on Product Hunt π!
The Tiip service itself is intuitive yet so refreshingly simple.
Tiip is still far from perfect, but that is why I would love to hear your thoughts, ideas, and questions - feedback is important to me!
Pavel
@sue111@itsdrw@travis_bellington@pulpendicular if you would like to stay connected and be the first to beta test a Mac app when it will become available, feel free to ping me at hello@tiip.app so that I could add your email to a list of testers. Thanks for your interest in a Mac version π.
Congrats - looks very interesting. One question: If it's trained on a large corpus - how do you know that the quality of that corpus is high? Academic writing, for example, is notoriously poor (there's a great book about this which has just fled my mind).
@christopher_samiullah My team and I sifted through academic essays and papers to find the ones that had excellent word-choice and structure and then we based our model on those texts. You aren't wrong - we've come across incredibly poorly-written academic work π.
