On mobile ios in product hunt app web view i clicked the chat popup on the site and nothing happened.. Do i need messenger app or am i missing something?
Rick Kats
@drawby we're working on improving mobile functionality - should have it all working end to end by end of next week so feel free to test it out then and should work flawlessly
Dan Moore
Gave this a shot today -- it's still a bit buggy (the angular errors out a lot when moving around the dashboard). Tried the automation a bit -- it's testable but very buggy. It's also not intuitive on how to send that out to your visitors. Overall it's a nice idea, but the execution is lacking a bit. It would be nicer to imbed the messenger into the site (like intercom) instead of popping out the window. Also, while probably a FB Messenger limitation, when people want to chat with us, I don't want to show them all their personal conversations -- but keep them focused in on our conversation. Good MVP though! Keep up the revisions!

Just started using this on our website, www.nwook.com. Pretty slick.

Signed up to test it out but I'm stuck at trying to connect to my FB page. Getting the error #4 Application Limit Reached
Rick Kats
@baybayin Hey, seems we've run quite a bit on the fb api today :) we're on it to make sure you are able to connect, please let me know if you have any other issues have a great one!

Hey Guys/Gals! After seeing the demand of our button launch - https://www.producthunt.com/tech... We decided to make it a lot more powerful and a marketing/communication tool. Consumers really trust brands/people on Messenger, we've already seen cases such as "can we just pay here" it became very clear that Messenger is going to be big for business and we think that this is the missing/disconnected piece ability for customers to message you from your website and better yet even when they leave your website! (this is huge) and soon even just click to get "messaged" or get "help" or claim "coupon" the widget deep-links into messenger both on web and mobile and works fantastic (provides you analytics - impressions/hovers/click). And this is just really the beginning, we're looking to add automation and promotions and a lot more cool stuff, with your feedback we'll make it better. Enjoy and let us know what you think, the team worked hard making this happen. psstttt - I'll post coupons for product hunt community shortly for being early users :)
Nate
@rickats, looks great! What do you think about triggered messages? Seems like messaging someone on facebook just because he/she is on your website will be a bit too much, right?
Rick Kats
@xnutsive Hey Nate thanks for jumping on! absolutely trigger messages/automation is our next release, we're working on getting it as simple as your customer pressing "need help" and your page actually messages their fb account first :) so you initiate conversations (opt-ins) that way, the other thing is message triggers = they'll be based on user-data and behavior, alot like intercom. Let me know if I can help answer anything else, we're constantly improving this widget and this is just version one :)
Nicolas Nemni
@rickats How do you handle people who does not have facebook?
Rick Kats
@nicolasegosum at the moment we don't :) but that leaves us still with a fairly big demographic as much as 900+ million active on messenger. but as we deal with cases like that we'll figure a way to perhaps just not display to those.
Mahieddine Cherif
Doesn't work
Rick Kats
@cherifmahiedine what didn't work for you, could you be a little more clear :)
Andreas Mitschke
I do not get it, yet. All it does no matter where I click is sending me to messenger.com and the respective vanity, that is it. It even sends me there when I do not click on the message link, because the whole widget area ".fb-messenger-widget-message" is triggering the same action, no matter if you click on an actionable link, CTA appearing link or just somewhere. What is the point?
Rick Kats
@andmitsch Andreas, whats the point to chat with visitors using Facebook Messenger? I didn't quite catch your questions - we're working on making a lot of improvements to the widget over the next few weeks and a lot more functionality along with automation. Please let me know if I can help you understand anything else, have a great one!
Andreas Mitschke
@rickats No, what is the point in the widget doing nothing but pointing to a rigid URL? I mean, I can always create a link pointing to a specific FB messenger URL. Maybe it is not working as expected on my side, because all the widget does is always open a new tab to a hard URL, there is no dialogue on the page, just opening a messenger tab. I'd totally like to have a messenger chat interface straight on the page, but I just get pointed to a messenger URL.
Rick Kats
@andmitsch Andreas, cool feedback - however keep in mind this is the first version and we're already working on version 2 which will do a lot of this and will change the way you communicate with customers :)
SSS
@rickats tried it just now. The dashboard is quite buggy: 1. It doesn't "see" that the code is on my website already. Yes, I can use the widget on my site but the dashboard says its not there. 2. When I try to delete message, I'm getting an error. 3. When I try to "Cancel" in editing mode, nothing happens. Improvement suggestion: It will be good to have testing mode option enabled when you trying/testing your widget. Right now it starts tracking data once its on your site so if you want to test it, it will count in your visits too.
Rick Kats
@famouslabs that's fantastic feedback - all noted (we'll take care of those bugs asap) and i really like the testing idea, (similar to stripe?) thanks for the awesome feedback!
Peter
@rickats @famouslabs I also had the #1 problem. Eventho the app was working on the site, the dashboard didn't recognize it. My first attempt was www.site.com and it didn't work. I think it was http:// infront or without 'www' that worked... :) Very lovely app btw. I am using the free version now, and will upgrade it if I see good results on the site, and especially when you will have triggered messages :)
Rick Kats
@peterpremuzic @famouslabs Peter, thank you we've spotted that as well doesn't work without the http:// which we missed but that'll be fixed as soon as possible, and absolutely please feel free to report back to us we'll be introducing automation in the next 1-2 weeks and want to make sure it all works flawless
Julian Ustiyanovych
OMG, shut up and take ma money! I was waiting for it for ages! Guys, you are doing fantastic product! I want to give it a try right now!
Rushabh Doshi
Good work, but it somehow doesnt work on my website: www.rdoshi.com , could you solve the bug ?
Rick Kats
@rushabh_doshi Hey I'm on it :) notified the team and this should get resolved asap - thanks for pointing it out!
Rick Kats
@rushabh_doshi hey it works now :) go test on your website :)
Milton Cabral
Awesome... this is much more powerful than have any other facebook module in a business website... provide you the hability to interact with the custumers using the main chanel.... just thwo questions: 1. wath you plan for the two button (coming soon) below the message button... 2. this service will keet free or you plan to sell it? Congratulation...
Rick Kats
@milton_cabral 1. the second service for "click to get messaged" or "claim" that will be freemium and a paid tier just based on conversations 2. same as above, we will have a freemium and paid plans of course hope that answered all your questions! keep the awesome feedback coming :)
Kyle Visner
I might need to add this to my site, very cool
Rick Kats
@kyle_visner thanks! and please let us know how we can help - it'll only improve :)
Jean-Marie
Just tested this on my website and works like a charm, congrats @rickats. What would be cool is we could also use gifs (giphy links for example) in the opening message. Any plans on doing that?
Rick Kats
@brusselsregular we're already working on a way better version with tons of support for this stuff :) the first version was purely ment to validate demand :)!
Gustavo Vitulo
Very cool! What do you think about translating?
Rick Kats
@gustavovitulo Hey what are you thinking? we currently offer the ability to change text inside the message box to any language you desire :)
Congratulations, the installation is simple and the product facilitates mobile communication seamlessly with aplomb. It has great potential as a virtual intercom system.
Rick Kats
@markmwhelan Hey Mark, absolutely agree with you 100% and we're working towards that goal now more than ever - simple/automation and most important of all frictionless
luduvigo
Nice, I'll give it a shot. What is the direction you see in this? Do you think that push messages to Messenger will be acceptable for the users?
Rick Kats
@luduvigo Hey thanks for checking us out, in terms of functionality we'd like to make it a step further + some automation to it - we're working on a way for customers just to press one button and they'll get a message from your page via messenger automatically which will be like "get help" or "claim coupon" at this point the customer won't even need to message you first and introduce some trigger messages as well. for massive push via messenger, it depends - i'm not sure how open Facebook will be to sending massive messages to users but time will tell
